We love coffee and had always used their beans. We were overjoyed when the coffee bar opened. I do think it's the best coffee in Newcastle (I love Pink lane too) but this just nudges it as the coffee is a warmer temperature.

The Grainger Market is a much nicer place than I remember it being - it seems to be a wonderful mixture of traditional shops, cafes and stalls with a new twist of continental style. Pumphrey's Brewing Emporium is perfect for a relaxing coffee - warmth on a cold day - lots of people to watch going by - friendly baristas - and darn fine coffee to boot ! Will be back for sure.

Pumphrey's is something of a legend in the Northeast and in Newcastle in particular. It's Brewing Emporium in Newcastle's historic Grainger Market sells Pumphrey's full range of coffee beans and all manner of coffee equipment, as well as tea and other hot beverage sundries. Not only that, but it also dispenses coffee wisdom to those who wish to learn it and, to top it all, you can get a great cup of coffee, either from the espresso machine or brew bar.

The market itself is a wonderful place and worth visiting in its own right. When you need a break, Pumphrey's is the ideal place to stop for a quick coffee and take the weight off your feet. However, it's also worth visiting in its own right and I really enjoyed sitting at the bar, drinking my coffee and chatting with the knowledgeable and enthusiastic baristas.
