I love it here, the food is outstanding, the staff are incredibly helpful and efficient and the beer is first class. There is a micro brewery in the bar which attracts lots of people for the beer tasting alone, but really this place has much more about it than just great beer.

The pub has a real young friendly vibe to it. If you want 'posh pub food' and real ale come here. We ordered the 3 planks as starters between 5 of us but they are so generous all we needed was a few extra sides and we were sorted. Great sharing food if your with friends and catching up. Recommend the tavernale and tutti frutti and the milk stout is a real treat. Highly recommend and will most definitely be back!

Great selection of Ales, staff attentive and helpful, and wonderful food. The batter on the chicken wings was one of the best I have ever tasted, and my mushroom burger was outstanding, the only thing I would have prefered is fat chips. I"ll definitely be back.

Hi Nickyboy500

Thanks for the review and glad you enjoyed the burger & the terrace

As a rule of thumb the terrace opens at 5pm weekdays and midday at weekends

Unless of course the sun is cracking the flags

Which, as a fellow Toon dweller, you will appreciate is not that often ;)

Hope this info helps

Busy traditional pub just outside Newcastle keep with a small but nice beer garden (smoking area) with some views over the bridges albeit mostly blocked by trees. Never eaten here so can't comment on the food but the drink and atmosphere is good, plenty of english ales and a few continental bottles. The unique interest is mainly atmosphere and traditional interior and stained glass. Seems random how this place is very busy some weekends, and pretty quiet others.
