Great patio terrace tucked away under the bridge! Great when the weather is fowl.

Staff are all friendly, beer selection is amazing.

Place gets quick full.

“A long time coming....”
Reviewed 6 August 2014 via mobile

Firstly it should be mentioned that there has been a great internal refurb of this tired pub/bar on the Quayside which is good news.

The bad news is the delivery inside is not as impressive. With one notable exception (lady behind the bar) the staff appeared disinterested and morose. Food ordering at the bar is clunky and lengthy. Many of the trumpeted ales at the bar were not available. Dogs are allowed, at times noisily evident.

This was our third visit, each time we have left increasingly disappointed. Previously a pulled pork sandwich was surprisingly small for the premium price. This time our Sunday lunch took an hour to come in a not particularly busy period of the day nor with many customers around. My partner's beef was fine however my pork was so fatty I would have sent it back if there wasn't a prospect of another hour's wait. Vegetables and potato servings were limited in choice too. This is not one of the cheaper Sunday lunch options so expectations were perhaps higher.

All of this is a shame as this place could be really good, particularly with some attention to the service (there were audible grumbles from other tables too) Presently it is not as good as maybe it aspires to be.

“Proper pub, proper pub food”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

Nice casual feel to this refurbished pub serving good simple food. Good selection of draught beers, some brewed on the premises, reasonably priced wine list, pleasant outdoor area and young, friendly staff make for a very pleasant experience.

“The Pub Under The Bridge”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

We have been here a couple of times now and The Bridge Tavern is fast approaching one of our favourite pubs/restaurants. Down stairs is open and spacious. It also has the copper tanks, in which their own ales are brewed. There is a yard with plenty of room for el fresco drinks. Upstairs has a small bar and a balcony area which is ideal on a warm summer's day or evening, for drinks and eats.

The food selection is good and every dish we had was delicious and filling. The real ale is the high point, with a fine selection of breweries to choose from. There is a special brewing fair at the end of October, which we are all looking forward to.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

“Well worth a visit ”
Reviewed 2 August 2014 via mobile

We visited here yesterday and had a fish platter. Deep fried monkfish cheeks, squid, Craster kipper and other lovely stuff. The pork scratchings and peanuts cooked in bacon fat were to die for. Will definately be going back
