“Very Good Hotel”
Reviewed 27 March 2013

Well managed, informed staff, who were very welcoming. Clean comfortable accommodation, good nights sleep, not noisy, though did stay midweek. Nice atmosphere.Well placed 5-10 mins from station. Close to everything. Would definitely stay there again.

We arrived to an extremely efficient reception, Chris booked us in with the minimun of fuss, easy going, helpful and made my daughter and myself feel at ease immediatly. The room was in a quiet area ( which at the time of booking i requested, this had not gone unnoticed , we were placed in the quiet area . Our room was clean, soundproof and everything was there that should be.The cleaning staff were most kind in giving out more tea bags without questions.Chris was there to guide us through our directions that we needed to know. The breakfast was very good with plenty of variety for everyones needs. When we came to check out again it was done in a nice friendly manner, this time by Lauren. She went out of her way to deal with leaving our luggage to collect later, making sure everything had been ok with our stay.A very nice friendly Hotel which we definatly will use again.

Room Tip: 5th floor, which is the top floor and very quiet.

Excellent mood and friendliness of staff. Bar very pleasnt Breakfast; standard Express fare but more than adequate, room warm.... But noisy. No car park altough there is a car park adjacent but it's not so good as all the lower floors are reserved and the pay and display is "odd" so you have to either go back at 08:00 and buy a new ticket or leave at 08:00. There are plenty of eating places around but it's not the most salubrious of areas...I ate in Akbars excellent... In area again will consider it and th eproblem isn't the Hol Inn but it's location...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel.
I’m sorry to hear you had to get up early to leave the car park, one of my colleges should of made you aware that you can pay and display from the night before and you don’t need to leave at 8am.
I hope this will not put you off visiting our hotel again and we look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel in the future.

Best Regards

Staying with colleagues for a business meeting in Newcastle, I was impressed with the excellent Reception staff member (Christopher) who booked me in promptly, and provided directions on a map to our meeting venue and some shops I wished to visit. The bedroom was compact, spotlessly clean, with a wc/washbasin/shower, the latter being simple and easy to use to obtain water of the correct temperature. There was a desk with a reading lamp, and reading lamps were also placed by the bed.

Breakfast was, as other reviewers have said, rather basic; the only hot food was scrambled egg, (strongly flavoured) sausages and baked beans. It would be an improvement at minimal cost to offer fried eggs, bacon, tomatoes etc to upgrade it to a "full English".

Checkout, also by Christopher, was efficient and friendly. The hotel is about a 7 minute walk from Newcastle Central Station, and I can recommend it. I do not know the cost of my room, as the rooms were booked centrally, so have not commented on the value offered.

My colleague and I stayed here last Monday for work and was really impressed. We were abit late and the friendly receptionist (Kimberley) went out of her way ot ensure we had all we needed, a nice room and pointed us in the direction of the best Indian restaurant ever.
Then in morning another lovely receptionist (Lee) got a us taxi and made us feel very special.
The room was clean and all we needed but its the little touches that makes the difference.
Thank you.

Room Tip: Eat in Akbars! Rooms at the back are quieter.

This is not a review of the hotel itself as I haven't stayed there so far but just a comment on the wonderful service I have had this evening by a member of the reception staff named Lee. I called the hotel to book a room for my elderly parents-in-law as I wanted to make sure the rooms were suitable for people with mobility difficulties. Not only did Lee assure me they would be given an extra-sized room with walk-in shower but he also advised me of a reputable taxi firm for them to use and gave me a handsome discount on the advertised room rate. Thank you Lee for your kind assistance and for calling me back rather than having me hanging on the line whilst you sorted my booking.
