Chose this hotel as we were coming down from Edinburgh for a family visit. We wanted to do a bit of sight-seeing as well as visit family in Gateshead and this was the perfect choice/location for us. On arrival the check-in to me was a bit rushed and information regarding meals, the bar, the lifts and rooms were fired off at great speed. We were the only couple checking in so why the rush. However, the staff were polite and helpful during our stay.
The room was very spacious and the bed was amazingly comfortable (just as stated in the adverts). As previous guest mentioned, there were a lot of gulls nesting on the Tyne bridge, but they didn’t bother us too much. Can’t offer an opinion on the meals as we did not eat in, but on passing by the dining room/bar area it was busy and meals looked nice. The hotel is well placed for eateries around the quayside and in fact the “Slug and Lettuce” is just next door.
I would come back here again if staying in Newcastle. The only thing I would say is that if you are not too good on your feet, it’s quite a hike back up the hill to the town centre, but well placed for the Baltic Gallery and the Sage.
