“Good all round choice”
Reviewed 21 August 2012

Chose this hotel as we were coming down from Edinburgh for a family visit. We wanted to do a bit of sight-seeing as well as visit family in Gateshead and this was the perfect choice/location for us. On arrival the check-in to me was a bit rushed and information regarding meals, the bar, the lifts and rooms were fired off at great speed. We were the only couple checking in so why the rush. However, the staff were polite and helpful during our stay.

The room was very spacious and the bed was amazingly comfortable (just as stated in the adverts). As previous guest mentioned, there were a lot of gulls nesting on the Tyne bridge, but they didn’t bother us too much. Can’t offer an opinion on the meals as we did not eat in, but on passing by the dining room/bar area it was busy and meals looked nice. The hotel is well placed for eateries around the quayside and in fact the “Slug and Lettuce” is just next door.

I would come back here again if staying in Newcastle. The only thing I would say is that if you are not too good on your feet, it’s quite a hike back up the hill to the town centre, but well placed for the Baltic Gallery and the Sage.

Room Tip: Only stayed here once so I would'nt know which room was better than any other

A very nice room, all you would normally expect from a Premier Inn. Big King size bed, clean white linen, tv, hairdryer, good shower. Helpful friendly staff and in a excellent location, right by the river, ideal for exploring.

Our room at the back of the hotel was very peaceful.

All in all, a very comfortable stay and we would definitely book again.

Room Tip: Probably best to have a room at the back of the hotel for peace and quiet.

Hotel was very important to where we wanted to be, very quiet during the night, car park was very handy to have although it did say no vans at least 3 parked there making it hard to find a space.
Hotel was very clean and staff friendly. Town centre etc within very easy walking distance.

we stayed on a friday night and it was full of drunken people on their stag and hen nights. the doorways were blocked by people smoking and shouting, the staff did nothing about this and the next morning we were confronted by half naked (and not in an attractive way!) smelly people still smoking and swearing on the door step.

The room we had was on the side by the tyne bridge, above the door ways and was very noisy all night both from the people in the doorways and the general street noise. I am a geordie but even i get sick of hearing people shouting about the 'toon army'.

Room Tip: ask for a room at the back of the building away from the quayside where there is a lot of noise all...

Very happy to be going back to premier inn lombard street in october for a gig. Enjoyed a wonderful night last April, room was brilliant and breakfest was nice after a long night out. If anything it is an ideal spot for a group of friends looking to enjoy a nice weekend away and enjoy all that Newcastle has to offer

Room Tip: I got a room on the second floor number 207 and it was positioned excellent

Stayed here last week with family after watching Olympic footy. Is a nice enough location on the River, with a few bars within walking distance, a great 'sandy beach' installed by the local council which was loved by the kids and the millenium bridge. Hotel is clean, rooms were decent enough for 4 of us for 1 night and breakfast was great as kids ate free.As others have mentioned, It is at the bottom of a steep hill but better there so its a nice walk back after a night out than at the top of the hill. Bus stop is 100 meters around the corner for those not inclined to climb. All in all a decent Premier Inn, no frills but a good standard.

First of all the location was fantastic. I chose this hotel almost at the last minute for my sons wedding. Having read som reviews i was a little concerned about dive bombing seagulls and stag night noise. Didnt get any of these. The place is very comfortable as you would expect with premier inn and the sevice very good.
Was a little suprised to come back after the wedding to find all our bags had been packed but once i enquired at reception found this was due to the flash flooding, the rain intensity had cause some room to flood and being concerned for our belongings they had packed and moved everything to be safe. Well done Premier Inn staff

Room Tip: Just make sure you book the hotel car park with your booking. It cost £7/night and is secure. There...
