“A really good weekend at jesmond dene”
Reviewed 17 February 2014

This is a really good and quite pricey hotel, that is situated a few miles outside Newcastle City Centre. It's in tip-top condition, with two very cosy sitting rooms and a very swish dining room complex. We had a junior suite - excellent size-wise, huge comfy bed and big bathroom, proper sized TV, quality shampoos etc and great coffee making kit. On the downside, it was far too dark, bath towels are much smaller than you would expect and the bed sheet was far too small for the bed, made worse by the fact that the undersheet was undersized. Also there is no gym - a big disappointment. The really key point to make is wonderful food and great staff, notably in the extremely busy restaurant restaurant. Our bill for two nights including one dinner was about £750. We will return!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Jesmond Dene House last weekend for a birthday treat. We stayed in the Noble Suite and it was beautiful. Very clean and decorated to a high standard. The bathroom was large with a lovely bath and powerful shower. The bed was huuuggeee and the seating area was a nice extra touch.

As a surprise my boyfriend had hired the private dining room and when we arrived downstairs all my friends and family were there. The service was impeccable the whole night, I felt like I was getting special birthday treatment, but all of my guests mentioned how first class the service was and how much they enjoyed their meal. The staff couldn't of been any more helpful and polite. Thank you!

Abi helped my partner to arrange the room and meal and he said she was extremely helpful, we can't thank her enough.

Jesmond Dene House is 5 star and I will defiantly recommend it to everyone and hopefully get the chance to come back.

Room Tip: Noble Suite is lovely!

Back to Jesmond Dene after a long break. This remains an excellent, comfortable, well-run hotel with a first class kitchen. The two minor annoyances I used to moan about have both gone - fast broadband is now free for everybody, and there's no Radio 2 at breakfast. Wonderful!

Room Tip: If you want a bath, specify that as some only have showers. If you have a room overlooking the Dene...

As a pick me up in the dark winter months we decided to go to Newcastle's most quite and cosy hotel, I've eaten sunday lunch here before but never stayed and was very impressed as I expected much and it was delivered. The attention to details is defiantly there and sleep very soundly in a lovely room in the "new house" everything was just that 10% better than anywhere else I've stayed before. The food was just excellent as well, A friend said it was a food experience they were not lying it was just fabulous and the wine was something else to boot.

From a very warm welcome to checking out, quality and service were second to none.

Our classic room was cosy, warm elegant and beautifully furnished, with every attention to detail. The bedding and the bed were very comfortable. Robes and slippers were provided. The bathroom large with a large semi round tub - much wider than a normal double bath. Lovely herbal toiletries.

We ate out in Newcastle but returned into the bar for a night cap. Comfy chairs and sofas, by open fires (although by 1030 they had died out with was a shame)

The taxi to town was around £7 so not bad.

The breakfast was the only negative - for £16 one sausage, one piece of bacon, an egg, a half slice of bread, half tomato and quarter of mushroom - not value for money. It was rather oily and a little cold.

We would definitely return here and perhaps sample an evening meal in the restaurant which we have excellent reviews about.

My husband booked a special meal here for our 4 night stay in Newcastle. We were too full for the tasting menu unfortunately but ate from a mixture of the house and dinner menus. Everything was perfect and easily reached the standard of Michelin starred places we have eaten previously. The decor was beautiful and fitting for such a grand house. Finally the service was impeccable and without fault. They were efficient, friendly but unobtrusive. The standard of this hotel is what I would expect from a 4 star hotel (see my separate review about terrible stay at the Sandman). Next time we come to Newcastle we will be staying here!
