We dined here first in 2005, just after refurb, it was very sophisticated then. We returned and stayed overnight in November 2013 for our sons 21st birthday.

First impressions, smart decor, confusing front of house.

We chose a superior room overlooking the Dene, plenty of space, the bathroom was well equipped and a decent size.

The only disappointment was the restaurant, they could not deliver our steaks as ordered, I asked for a medium rare and it was well done, to the point of being grey, I sent mine back and was made to feel like "Mr Awkward" as my family ate their meal and I waited for my awkward steak.

No apology, just a "we'll take it off your bill."

I expect more sophisticated and considerate service from an establishment that purports to be at the upper end of the hospitality market.

Lovely weekend away, recommended by friends. Hotel facilities were first rate, from food through to accommodation. Surroundings and atmosphere were excellent and am looking forward to returning soon....

I booked Jesmond Dean House for my dad's birthday lunch. The meal was lovely and service was great. At the time of the booking I told the staff it was my dad's birthday lunch and asked for a birthday plate which they acknowledged, but it was forgotten on the day....I'm disappointed but the food was good.

We first stayed here when we got engaged. We loved it so much we booked it for our wedding and we are so glad we did. It covers the big three requirements you could want from a hotel.
Firstly, the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly; from Abi who organised the day, Karin who looked after us on the day, to all the staff who you encounter during your time there. They really couldn't be more genuine and do any more for you.
We must give a special mention to Scott who was so helpful, friendly and lovely on both the Friday evening for our family buffet and all day on Saturday. If the wedding video is anything to go by, he was pestered quite a lot by our friends who were a little bit worse for wear on Saturday but was the consummate professional.
Secondly, the food is absolutely delicious and worth every penny you pay for it. Lovely touches too with little Valentine's macaroons in all the rooms.
Thirdly, the location is so picturesque and set right in the heart of the Dene. You are so close to Newcastle and it's easy to travel to and from but you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, it's so quiet and peaceful.
Our guests also commented on the wonderful food and fantastic staff and how beautiful the hotel is. We knew this already but it was lovely that they experienced all this too.
Thank you so much for making our day so perfect.
Alison and Leon xx

Room Tip: Our guests and family stayed in lots of the rooms and everyone was happy with their accommodation.

Can't believe a year has gone by since my friends and I last enjoyed afternoon tea at Jesmond Dene Hs. This year we were celebrating my 50th ! ( gulp) As always , excellent . Delicious food, lovely atmosphere and wonderful service. So much so we were still there when guests started arriving for dinner.

When my father asked where I wanted to go to celebrate with my family there was only one place, two weekends in a row , what a treat. The delights of dinner this time.

Members of my family will will staying overnight, as they have done on prior occasions and I know they have always been very impressed.

I booked the tasting menu on Valentines evening with an overnight stay as a birthday treat for my husband. We were in room 35 in the new house on the ground floor overlooking the drive. The spacious room was tastefully decorated and furnished, had a comfortable seating area and was very quiet. As it was valentines night the hotel had provided a couple of nice touches in the room with a single red rose and a small boxed Valentine decorated chocolate cake.

The 7 course tasting menu was excellent with some unusual tastes. As it's difficult to match all the courses to wines, we decided to pay for the wine tasting package to compliment each course and sampled some good wines. Although the dining room was full, the service was slick and quick between the courses and delivering the different wines to go with the different courses.
Breakfast the next morning was freshly cooked and delicious.

This hotel is in a beautiful old building, the main public rooms have load of character and together with excellent food and good service makes it a winner for us and we will return, perhaps for one of the jazz suppers with an overnight stay of course.

This is a really good and quite pricey hotel, that is situated a few miles outside Newcastle City Centre. It's in tip-top condition, with two very cosy sitting rooms and a very swish dining room complex. We had a junior suite - excellent size-wise, huge comfy bed and big bathroom, proper sized TV, quality shampoos etc and great coffee making kit. On the downside, it was far too dark, bath towels are much smaller than you would expect and the bed sheet was far too small for the bed, made worse by the fact that the undersheet was undersized. Also there is no gym - a big disappointment. The really key point to make is wonderful food and great staff, notably in the extremely busy restaurant restaurant. Our bill for two nights including one dinner was about £750. We will return!
