We dined here first in 2005, just after refurb, it was very sophisticated then. We returned and stayed overnight in November 2013 for our sons 21st birthday.
First impressions, smart decor, confusing front of house.
We chose a superior room overlooking the Dene, plenty of space, the bathroom was well equipped and a decent size.
The only disappointment was the restaurant, they could not deliver our steaks as ordered, I asked for a medium rare and it was well done, to the point of being grey, I sent mine back and was made to feel like "Mr Awkward" as my family ate their meal and I waited for my awkward steak.
No apology, just a "we'll take it off your bill."
I expect more sophisticated and considerate service from an establishment that purports to be at the upper end of the hospitality market.
