A great real ale pub that changes it's ale selection regularly. Just a quaint old fashioned pub with a really nice beer garden.

The pub looks isolated and down again heel from the outside, but it's a real gem. Great accommodation, atmosphere and beer. Well worth a visit.

It is an absolute dump of a pub but it's a pub with life and soul!! Always good beers, great atmosphere, fires, music, outside seating with a super westerly view to the town.

It's a blast from the past when pubs were the heart and soul of the community. Wish it was at the end of my street.
Best dump in town! I love it.

The Cumberland Arms is a quirky bar with lots of regulars who drink there. They have a nice selection of real ales and even tea and coffee. There are 2 small bars and a room upstairs for events. The staff are friendly(ish), if you can catch their eye and they aren't talking to their mates. They used to serve food, but don't anymore, although they do offer ploughman's, cheese boards and pork pies. I asked for a pork pie and pickle but was told the pickle was passed its use by date and they had no alternative. Not great, but they didn't seem bothered. Go if you've eaten and are feeling robust. As a lone visitor I didn't feel very welcome.

The Cumberland Arms is spectacularly unspoiled - it has managed to retain all its character while over the years attempts have been made to make it more comfortable, It has the most eclectic choices of live music, from bluegrass through folk to blues and rock, and the excellent Suggestibles if you're on the mood for comedy - plus a superb pub quiz every Monday night (I may be a little biased because I run the quiz...) There are plenty of local musicians who have open mic sessions as well as the professional gigs. The staff are uniformly friendly and helpful, and the whole place just buzzes with energy. Very highly recommended!
