Heaton park is a great place to go on a sunny day. It's great for children and dogs. There's a sambucas which is cheap and a little food van which does great coffee and ice cream. You can wonder up to the shoe tree and onto jesmond dene. Great family day out.

Heaton Park, offering a place to unwind for all the family.

Heaton Park is a well proportioned body of land. In the Victorian park style, it is well landscaped, and offers visitors a flavour of nature in the inner suburbs of eastern Newcastle upon Tyne. There's play areas for young children, but much else for the rest of us. A number of pathways connect Heaton Park to the more picturesque Jesmond Dene. It is well maintained, but not overly manicured; which is a good thing as it allows nature to thrive alongside the human spaces. Food can be found at a branch of Sambuca, for unbelievably cheap prices, and on warmer days visitors can sit out on the large patio. Flower beds surrounding the old pavilion are luscious, but unpretentious.

I would dearly hope to visit Heaton Park again on future trips to Newcastle upon Tyne.

After a worrying weather week , the amazing sun and blue skies matched the different band outfits beautifully . The silver sage , provided music from various steel pan bands , sambanista samba band , African Djembeh , Tambours d afrique and mixed percussion music . All on the old bowling green , same place as the very successful Heaton Festival two weeks previously . The audience were as colourful as the performers and the festival over ran by two hours , but everyone was delighted that the great music , just kept on coming . A fantastic success , lets hope it becomes an annual festival carnival .

Beautiful well maintained park, with wide pathways, children's playground, large open spaces and links to Jesmond Dene.

Being a Heaton local I feel lucky to have this park on the doorstep. I've spent many hours either reading a book near the pavilion, laying in the sun or walking through to Jesmond.

The park is visited by people wanting a stroll, to relax, walk a dog, run or cycle through.

Heaton Park is a large community park on the outskirts of Heaton and leads through to Armstrong Park and Jesmond Dene. This is a great local facility especially on sunny days and you will find a Sambucca Italian eating establishment housed in the old Pavillion. Local volunteers now work to keep this park looking good due to cuts and make it a lovely place for people of all ages to visit. Very close to lots of other lovely eateries on both Heaton and Chillingham Road.
