Ate here after looking for a restaurant in newcastle. Chinese food is our favourite and the reviews here looked promising. We we went for lunch and all 3 of us decided on the 4 course set lunch £9.95 which consisted of starter appetisers main and dessert. We were served warm prawn crackers while we chose. For starter we chicken and sweetcorn soup for starter - piping hot and lovely not gloopy like at some restaurants serve it. They made plain sweetcorn for our vegetarian daughter. Appetiser we had chilli and garlic pork ribs, vegetable spring rolls and chicken satay. All we freshly made and not out of a packet like some restaurants serve. We cleared the plates again. Pork was lovely and spicy will lots of fresh chilli. Mains we had vegetable and mushroom curry, beef in oyster sauce and chilli and garlic king prawns - all cooked perfectly And well seasoned served with fried/ boiled rice. Beef was melting soft and perfectly cooked. Dessert was ice cream and banana fritter. The banana fritter was so crispy with perfect cooked banana on inside and was the best banana fritter I have ever had. They also do a all u can eat buffet for around £16 served table side made to order fresh. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal restaurant was quiet and service timed to perfection with extremely well mannered staff. We will now be regulars. Much better value than some of the pricier restaurants ie that are normally recommended to tourists.

It was the first time we visited the Royal Emperor, and we had the £16.50 option, the staff were very polite and helpful. Food was very good, hot and well presented. We were impressed.

We visited on a Saturday night. The restaurant was buzzing but not too lively. Excellent food and service; they were happy to swap a couple of dishes on the set menu. There was loads to eat! Certainly lives up to previous reviews. Recommended, although not cheap in comparison with some other local restaurants.

A lovely restaurant in the heart of Newcastle's Chinatown. Good value lunchtime special on weekdays- succulent prawns, tasty sauces and good amount of vegetables in the dishes. Plenty of rice and all piping hot. Highly recommended.

Chose this restaurant because of the reviews read on Trip Advisor. We occupied the only table in the restaurant ( 8pm Sunday evening), so atmosphere a little lacking. However food was good quality, price reasonable, staff were very friendly and attentive. A great selling point for the restaurant. Lots of people in Chinese buffet further up road, but we were glad we made this choice. Food quality and service the most important. Even though we finished eating at 10.15pm we were never made to feel we had to rush or get out, as I am sure they may have closed up once we left.
