Description: Paradiso Newcastle - NORTH EAST RESTAURANT OF THE YEAR 2016 As voted by the Food Awards England. One of those restaurants you'll discover by word of mouth rather than by walking past, Paradiso is a local family run restaurant that has been a mainstay on the Newcastle gastro scene for 20 years. Tucked away down Market Lane, Paradiso is a hidden treasure. The restaurant is split into three main floors. The first floor, which is also the main seating floor seats up to 60, has a bar and a spacious outdoor terrace for alfresco dining. The second floor contains the open-plan kitchen and another seating area, which is able to seat up to 50. This floor is smaller than the first floor, but is still capable of holding large parties with ease, and again, we can accommodate parties of any size and number. If you require more privacy, our third floor is a private dining room which can seat up to 45. As this room features skylights, it is a bright, warm space and is spacious enough to be used for any kind of event, such as dining, presentations and so on.

i have had this restaurant recommended by several family members and friends but for some reason have never got round to going. met a friend yesterday in town centre and decided to go for a drink first. this place came to mind and we were in the area so we went in. absolutely lovely place, greeted in a very friendly manner by guiseppe and had a lovely window seat. we only had drinks as we were already booked to eat later at another restaurant (marco polo which is always excellent as well) but we looked thru their menus for another occasion and were very impressed. we will definitely go back for food. we were the only people in at the end of our drink and guiseppe sat and chatted with us about his life in italy and his experiences of life in newcastle. worth going back just for him! he is so nice. dor try this place if you have not been i am sure most people would be impressed.

I've been to Paradiso twice now and both times I've left satisfied. The value for money at this restaurant is incredible. Both times I had two courses from the set menu and the portion sizes and quality of food exceeds what you would expect for the price. The staff are always friendly enough and there is always atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed eating out on the terrace.

Having been a regular customer at Paradiso for many years I have to say that it keeps going from strength to strength. Guiseppe and the team are welcoming and professional. The food is some of the best value around town. This venue is definately the place to go in Newcastle City centre!!

This was my first visit here after hearing many good comments from family and friends. The place was busy and although we'd booked a table previously we were given a table for 2 squeezed in by the bar. It was only after sitting there for 5 minutes that I realised that we were sitting in the main route for the toilets. The staff were also passing us reguarly on their way to and from the bar. So, we had people passing us on both sides at regular intervals. If there had been a different table available I would have certainly asked to be moved. Perhaps the management should consider customer comfort over profiteering from a badly positoned table. The food was fine but nothing exciting.

3 courses £15. Delicious!

White wine was absolutely vile, loss of one star, and friends the service was hit and miss. My friends assure me the service was not the usual standards, they were just very busy.

Will visit again.
