Description: Paradiso Newcastle - NORTH EAST RESTAURANT OF THE YEAR 2016 As voted by the Food Awards England. One of those restaurants you'll discover by word of mouth rather than by walking past, Paradiso is a local family run restaurant that has been a mainstay on the Newcastle gastro scene for 20 years. Tucked away down Market Lane, Paradiso is a hidden treasure. The restaurant is split into three main floors. The first floor, which is also the main seating floor seats up to 60, has a bar and a spacious outdoor terrace for alfresco dining. The second floor contains the open-plan kitchen and another seating area, which is able to seat up to 50. This floor is smaller than the first floor, but is still capable of holding large parties with ease, and again, we can accommodate parties of any size and number. If you require more privacy, our third floor is a private dining room which can seat up to 45. As this room features skylights, it is a bright, warm space and is spacious enough to be used for any kind of event, such as dining, presentations and so on.

I recently visited here for a family meal, we had planned to go somewhere else but decided againast it and ended up here. It was quite late on, around 9.30pm on a Thursday evening but we were welcomed in and shown to our table. The waiting staff could not have done more for us and the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. The outside dining area would be ideal on a sunny day and the nearby Alvino's is perfect for pre/post meal cocktails, not that the drink selection in the bar itself is anything other than excellent.

We love the booths, the food is fresh and tasty, the service is always great. There's an outside terrace part which is lovely on warm days. It's a special little place and usually busy!

We went to Paradiso on a voucher deal, the voucher was £21 supposedly for food worth £43 including a glass of Prossecco each... I think it wouldn't have cost us mush more anyhow if we hadn't had voucher but never mind lets talk about the good things :) A cosy room up a steep flight of stairs in the town centre, had a nice atmosphere with two friendly waiters offering plenty attention and good service. We had a two course deal which now doubt was worth our £21, we were served with a lovely cool Prossecco as we were seated and browsing the set menu, I had a tasty grilled goats cheese with grilled aubergine and beetroot salad, it was fab, hubby had bowl of mussels in spicy sauce with a basket of fresh bread. For mains we chose a meaty pizza (although there were more al a carte options) laced with garlic.. yummy and a seafood linguine which was very nice, we had an alcoholic cocktail each on special at 2 for £10 not that cheap but they were nice, we stayed for coffee which would have been more enjoyable if the background music had been a bit more restauranty... I'm not quite sure what was going on but it sounded like some foreign radio station with lots of talking babbling on and intermittently some unrecognisable music, shame really as its quite a romantic little place. The toilets were clean and overall (apart from music) it was a pleasant place to eat!

i visited this restaurant for drinks in february for drinks and was very impressed with everything, staff warm welcome menus etc. due to family commitments have not eaten out anywhere at all until last week. my first thought was to head over to paradiso for an early bird menu meal. even tho i had not been for 3 months i was remembered and welcomed warmly by guiseppe. this time i was with my husband rather than the friend i was with previously but he was also very warmly greeted and loved the place immediately. the food was absolutely gorgeous. my husband had mussels to start with and i had parma ham and mozarella salad; both dishes were excellent. then we both had the lamb koftas (i think that is the right name) they were also delicious, served with hummous, pitta bread and a lovely side salad. cannot wait to go again, have already decided to go with my daughter this time before a theatre visit next week. this restaurant is not exactly on the main thoroughfare thru town but is actually on a street which runs parallel to grey street and can be reached from there just by going along a little side street. well worth the tiny detour. there are some nice eating places on grey street but not with the authenticity and welcome that you get at paradiso. please try it. you will not be disappointed -- promise !!

Just been here as a family of 6. They fit us in with 30mins notice on a busy bank holiday saturday evening. The food was lovely, we particularly loved the garlic pizza breads. Even ordered one to take home. We all had the 3 courses off the happy hour menu for £12.95 ... you can't go wrong with that! Brilliant value! Very tasty food! Also we took advantage of the 2 for £10 cocktails, my favourite was the High Heels. Lovely atmosphere and lovelier staff! Will definitely recommend to anyone visiting Newcastle!
