Description: Paradiso Newcastle - NORTH EAST RESTAURANT OF THE YEAR 2016 As voted by the Food Awards England. One of those restaurants you'll discover by word of mouth rather than by walking past, Paradiso is a local family run restaurant that has been a mainstay on the Newcastle gastro scene for 20 years. Tucked away down Market Lane, Paradiso is a hidden treasure. The restaurant is split into three main floors. The first floor, which is also the main seating floor seats up to 60, has a bar and a spacious outdoor terrace for alfresco dining. The second floor contains the open-plan kitchen and another seating area, which is able to seat up to 50. This floor is smaller than the first floor, but is still capable of holding large parties with ease, and again, we can accommodate parties of any size and number. If you require more privacy, our third floor is a private dining room which can seat up to 45. As this room features skylights, it is a bright, warm space and is spacious enough to be used for any kind of event, such as dining, presentations and so on.

“Quirky and funky”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

Saw Paradiso on TripAdvisor and looked right up my street. Managed to turn up and get a table for three even though quite busy. We had avocado & beetroot salad, ravioli with sage butter sauce, porcini, asparagus and pea risotto and pizza. Service wasn't quick but was busy and we were well attended to throughout.

Loved the red brick and ambiance of the place. Will be back when in Newcastle.

“I think average is the perfect term”
Reviewed 13 August 2014 via mobile

My girlfriend and I visited on a busy Wednesday night without booking and they very kindly got a table for us. We chose 3 courses for £15 from a set menu which is great value for money. She had the chicken stuffed with mozzarella and breadcrumbs and mash potatoes and I had the lamb kofta with humous and flatbread with a spicy tomato sauce. Although for that price I wasn't expecting the highest of standards but the food was distinctly average. The service was tip top though, really attentive even though it was heaving. Although I have no real complaints because I got what I paid for I'm also not filled with joy. Would go again but try their a la carte menu.

“Great food & service”

NOt exactly a regular here, but once a month or so and always get great service and good food.

For Newcastle city centre, it's excellent value for money!

“Friendly, personal service, so much better than the chains”

A warm welcome from Guiseppe, a reasonably priced menu, and one of the best omlettes I have ever eaten - why go anywhere else for an Italian meal in Newcastle?

“Great family run restaurant”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

Had the pleasure of visiting this family run Italian restaurant while on a quick visit to Newcastle. Real Italian welcome from proprietor. Lovely night so had a table outside. Very rustic and authentic feel. Have just had a pizza oven installed to cater for children so families welcome. I had a lovely fish dish and my partner had a superb chicken dish. Nice house wine and set price menu which is always a bonus. I'll be back.
