Visited Hanahana for a work night out at the back end of April. Loved seeing the food being cooked in front of us, it all tasted great and everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. Unfortunately a lady from a different party did get hit with one of our eggs.

I've not been to a Japanese for years and had forgotten what to expect - the staff were lovely and attentive from the time we walked in and had the timings spot on for coming back and asking for more drinks throughout - we all selected options from the banquet menus and the food and the spectacle was brilliant - my only critisism really is that it seemed quite pricey - £23-27 each for the food (4 meats or seafood , rice and veg) I know it's hard to compare cuisines but with so much competition with the likes of Brazilian banquets - maybe I'm being a little bit greedy but a but more meat would have been nice - on the whole though, lovely food, fab service , nice wine and good company

16 of us went for little bro 18th birthday- was great. Food was great- got string if pearls set menu and can't understand people saying you didn't get much- got loads! And all amazing lots of flavour. Loved how food is cooked in front of you our chef was great writing happy 18 on hot plate and setting it on fire. Getting people up to catch egg in hat! The only thing which let's it down is the toilets there minging really need refurbished! Oh and one of our party was on orange n soda water and it cost same as pint of larger! Wine was reasonable priced 13.90 for a bottle of lovely rose. Great great night will def be back but do thing it's more suited to groups then couples .

Visited for the first time last night with a group of friends. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The staff were as polite, helpful and prompt as you could ask for anyone during a packed service and the food was delicious. The chicken satay in particular was excellent! As a concept I believe venues like this don't suit couples/table for 2 diners as the atmosphere doesn't lend itself to intimate gatherings but for group occasions I highly recommend it!

Some people on here seem to think that this is the best Newcastle can offer when it comes to Japanese dining - I can assure you its not.

We arrived on an evening to find the place quite empty, with only one 'table' being used. The high prices lead us to believe the food was going to be top notch, but we were highly dissapointed. We went for a set menu each, one seafood, one meat, and quite frankly couldnt eat half of it.

The staff couldnt really care, and all the 'fancy show off' stuff from the chefs just adds to the misery of the place. Even though the restaurant was empty, we were forced to sit in the middle of 2 other couples who were clearly as impressed as we were.........not.

have a look around Stowell street in the town. There are some far nicer places, offering some far nicer food, at far more reasonable prices!!!
