Got a table no problem on a Saturday night, pleasant surroundings, not overly fancy but open and clean looking.
Food was very enjoyable, Chicken pakora was quite unusual and very nice, our two curries were lovely, special mention for the peshwari nan too!
Very reasonable bill too, ideal for a quick bite before heading out.
Staff were OK, not overly friendly, but adequate.

We have eaten in lots of Indian restaurants and many are so similar you could forget where you are. Not so with Daraz. The food here is well above average albeit slightly more expensive but well worth it for what you get.The staff were pleasant and attentive, a little too attentive at times. Why do they do that thing where they clear the plates even when one of the party is still eating? I asked the waitress not to and yet about ten seconds later a waiter arrived and whisked the plates away!
In spite of that the ambience was good, in a nice clean and well appointed room and although a very large party arrived at other tables the service remained of high quality. Prawn puri starters were excellent and the curries arrived with very well made naan breads although the rice portion was a little frugal. The curries were well flavoured and interesting, my chicken chilli was hot enough but not overwhelming and the different background spices were not completely overshadowed by the chilli which often happens.
Overall a good dining experience and one that I would heartily recommend.

On a slow Tuesday night there were a few other diners. I had a tasteless a aubergine starter and a chicken jalfrezi to follow.
All ok, just not very inspiring. Our waiter was not too impressive. We had spilt a glass of diet coke on the table, and he seemed to think it was ok to serve the main courses without changing the table cloth!

Dined in this restaurant tonight with my work colleagues. When we arrived at the restaurant the waiter was very welcoming.Straight way felt we will be looked after. When ordering we asked the waiter we were in a rush so we can watch the match. The food came out promptly as there were other diners in the restaurant. The food was delicious, all 4 of us enjoyed our food very much.Great service,Delicious food, keep it up we will be back :)

The restaurant was cold and empty, the food was cold and tasteless, and the staff were clueless. Not a midweek night, but Easter Saturday, when the rest of Jesmond was buzzing. Don't know why we went but we know why we won't be back. Do yourself a favour and pay for a taxi to Kamal in Stanhope St. Sixty quid completely wasted.
