Buckle House
Reviewed 10 June 2011

I have been visiting Buckle house now for over 2 years and from my very first vist I was very impressed. On my numerous visits since the first I have seen minor changes to both inside and outside Buckle House that have improved the quality of my stay e.g. small fridge in the bedroom, a refurb of the dining room (with an even bigger selection of choice for breakfast) and the garden has also been re- designed and enhanced and already beautiful setting. Mark & Donna remain ever attentive, with nothing being too much trouble for them. I have subsequently been back for a short holiday!

Review is a little belated but wanted to say that we spent a lovely day at Buckle House on Good Friday. My daughter had booked this for a long weekend and invited us to stay in the house so we could have a family get together in Stratford so we knew little about the place and hence a little unsure of what we’d find. We shouldn’t have worried as this was one of the nicest, friendly and relaxing B&Bs we have stayed in a for a long time.
Although we arrived fairly late we had a wonderful welcome and the room we were shown to was excellent in every way. After a great nights sleep the breakfast was amazing with every taste catered for. There is a thoughtful attention to detail here and nothing is too much trouble. My daughter in fact got engaged whilst there and they kindly gave them a bottle of bubbly. Remembering the names of all six of us at the table indicated a personal touch that made you feel very much at home. For all this the room rates were very reasonable and they have a self catering apartment that looks even better value. We will definitely return and can highly recommend. A real find.

We had been to Buckle House for a night in September last year and loved it so much we wanted to come back for a long weekend. It was just as perfect as we remembered. The location is beautiful and so peaceful and quiet - the annex we stayed in was impeccably clean and beautifully furnished and the breakfast was outstanding! We had such a wonderful time and ended up getting engaged whilst away - I honestly don't think we could have found a nicer place to stay for our romantic break! Our parents joined us for one night of our stay - staying in one of the B&B rooms in the house and for people who are usually hard to please they were absolutely blown away by the excellent service Mark and Donna provide and are already planning to return this year. The breakfast in the morning is one of the best things about Buckle House. All the food is locally sourced and some of the food is from their garden and eggs from their own chickens. There is freshly baked bread and homemade preserves for you to eat and so much choice.

We have definitely found our own "home from home" at Buckle House and think it will be somewhere we will return to many times in the years to come. There are many great places to visit nearby such as Stratford on Avon and Chipping Campden and the beautiful Dovers Hill! Mark and Donna know the area very well and are happy to advise on good places to eat and visit.

We are really looking forward to our next stay at Buckle House!

I brought my Wife here for a birthday surprise, she had always wanted to go to the Stratford upon Avon/Cotswold area so after trawling the internet for somewhere suitable Buckle House seemed to jump out of the page at me as a place that we would find exactly what we like.
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like one of the family, first we met Donna who showed us to our room, made us a refreshing hot drink of choice and complimented it with a selection of biscuits, next we met Mark as we returned to the car for our cases, we were offered help with them and told to ask if there was anything we required.
Our room was "The King-size En-suite" room which we couldn't fault, a spotlessly clean room, an equally clean En-suite with toilet, washbasin and corner shower, more than enough storage space for our clothes, fridge with a soft-drinks mini-bar, television with satellite tv, info on the surrounding area and that big comfy bed.
We went to Bidford on Avon in the evening for a meal at "The Bridge", great food and not too expensive either, you need to book though.
We had a great nights sleep and then it was Breakfast time and wow what a Breakfast. Fresh Fruit Salad, Yoghurt, a massive selection of Breakfast cereals, Fruit Juices then its on to the Smoked Salmon, Smoked Haddock or Full English Breakfast with eggs from the free range chickens, then toast slices cut yourself from the fresh bread selection on the table, smothered in home-made jam or home-made marmalade and as much tea or coffee as you can drink.
Quality Food, service and establishment.
Attention to detail excellent.
Nothing to much trouble.
Peaceful Garden which you are encouraged to use.
A Breakfast to die for, that kept us going till the evening, apart from a coffee and a slice of cake mid-afternoon.
In an ideal location for both Stratford upon Avon and the Cotswolds approx 15min drive to either.
"Will we be back, you bet we will"
Thank-you Mark & Donna for making this special occasion even more special.

My wife and I stayed at the Buckle House for 3 nights a few days ago and I am SO pleased we chose to stay there. The owners are great people, very friendly and very helpful, always going out of their way to serve the guests. The breakfast is prepared according to your taste and they have a wonderful variety so you don't have to eat the same thing every day. The rooms are spacious and we had the en suite double bedroom, which was great, with a beautiful view of the vast garden area. The whole house was very clean, spotless and there’s a lot of ‘common’ space if you don’t want to go out and don’t want to stay in your room. We didn’t just have plain black tea and coffee in our room, but a selection of good coffee and tea and chocolate with more than we could use. The location is perfect as it’s very near Chipping Campden (the jewel of the Cotswold) and to Stratford upon Avon. Mark and Donna add a personal touch to your stay there with the way they treat you, they welcome you into their house and not just into a ‘hotel’. They are sure setting the bar very high for the bread and breakfast business and we look forward to being able to go back again. All in all a wonderful experience worth every penny paid for.

My wife and I stayed at Buckle House for three nights in April 2011. I can honestly say that this was, without doubt, the nicest most relaxing B&B we have ever stayed at. We were warmly welcomed by Diane and shown to our accomodation which was a beautifully furnished apartment looking out on to the garden. The apartment was spotlessly clean and had every amenity you could wish for. The breakfasts were wonderful with freshly baked bread every morning and enough full english breakfast to satisfy any one as well as home made jams. There are a couple of good eating places within striking distance but we would recommend the Bridge Restaurant at Bidford, although you may need to book. Frazier the cat and Ed the dog kept us amused and the chickes provided freshly laid eggs every day. Buckle House was the perfect place to relax and we will definitely be returning later in the year.
