“Murder Mystery - not for the faint hearted”
Reviewed 21 May 2013

Went on a Murder Mystery event. Room was stuffy and noisy as we were overlooking the "delightful" view of all the air conditioning units. Shame as the room mightn't have been too bad otherwise. The event was loud, very amateur and not enjoyable at all. I don't know who they thought they were catering for for none of the people we spoke to enjoyed it. The meal at the event was pretty poor too. The best bit was the company I went with. Breakfast saved me from rating this as a 1. The food then was average but the tables just weren't cleared and when I cleared our table to give us some space, a member of staff got very fed up and was rude. I wouldn't go again.

Room Tip: Ask for a window overlooking the back garden

We received an invite to the Murder Mystery night as a deal with an overnight stay and booked with the minimum of fuss. The hotel is easy to find and there is plenty of parking, so a good start to our couple of days away. Reception was friendly and helpful and our room was very good and clean but not luxurious, so no real complaints there. The Murder Mystery evening was held during dinner (which was served well, hot and tasty) and we really enjoyed the evening but did not stay on for the dancing afterwards. We both enjoyed a good nights sleep and the shower provided enough hot water for us both. Breakfast was the usual hotel buffet, with cereals, a full english and pastries on offer with lots of hot & cold drinks. All in all we had no problems at all, and at the deal price was well worth the money - I'm not sure if I would feel as happy if we had paid the full price. To finish I would recommend the Murder Mystery event if you get a deal - good fun and money well spent.

Hotel is basic, not a great position on a main road and grounds just grass but for cheap deal the room was fine comfy bed good t.v,however not much hot water.
Murder mystery night
This was really enjoyable for the price of the deal we got. Food was nothing special but was hot and served efficiently.the mystery team were good and managed well with the large group.
You sit on tables of ten and so the people you sit with will make a difference to the evening as you need to bounce ideas around between each other. After the mystery is solved there is a disco and most people stayed and it was well done.
The people at the evening were of a wide range of ages from late teenage to more mature couples and group of friends.
All in all I would recommend if you can get a cheap deal

Room Tip: We had a room at the front it was fine and we had no road noise although the main road was close

Arrived at reception and the receptionist had to get the manager as she could not find our booking. So not a good start! It took a while for the manager to sort it all out and didn't apologise at all. Although the receptionist did apologise a lot for the delay.

Rooms - nice and cosy although few stains on carpet and marks on walls, the room could do with a freshen up and redecorating. Beds very comfy and had a nice sleep overall are room had a nice bay window which was nice.

Breakfast - we arrived at the room and gave are room number. she told us were we could sit. Next she came back telling us we had to pay for breakfast although it stated on are confirmation breakfast included. So as we left breakfast we showed her the conformation. She then asked for our room number and the sheet had us down under a different room number. Although even next to our name it said breakfast included. She had no clue what she was on about. She then rang the reception and they confirmed breakfast included. No
Apologies for the misunderstand and
Breakfast was awful! The full english not nice what so ever! So glad did not have to pay extra!

All in all not a bad stay but just a bad service.

Would of been nice if they apologised more on both Occasions.

I stayed in this hotel for work, and it was perfectly OK. Whilst it is in some places rated as 4* I would say 3 until renovations are completed.

The rooms I stayed in were nicely decorated and with modern bathrooms - the finishing touches are missing however e.g. grubby looking marks on walls - stained carpets - things that aren't dirt but don't always give the best impression.

However that being said, the hotel was reasonably priced. My time included breakfast which is plentiful and varied - no sign of obvious veggie options though.

I think at the time I attended as it was a weekday the atmosphere wasn't all it could have been - there was only me at breakfast - and the restaurant does need some organisation - both for dinner and breakfast it was very difficult to find anyone to serve.

Overall though as the title suggests - it's ok, and value for money - if you don't pay 5* prices, don't expect 5*

Stayed here for 2 nights, basic, rooms need decorating. Bed comfy however came home with a number of bites. Number of times couldn't get into room, had to have key card amended. Business trip booked by my company, they didn't know wether it had been paid or not. Coffee and milk not replaced on 2nd nights stay.

Turned up and confronted by smashed car out front obviously been there a while, weeds every where looking past its sell by date. Reception area ok with a very helpful desk staff, sorted out a booking glitch no problem!
Room not bad though wires hanging from the curtain pelmet was worrying, some of the lights not working, fittings in the bathroom for the shower pulling out of the wall, otherwise ok!
No reception on EE no phone or Internet!
