Booked the Coach House for a visit to family from Australia. Perfect location for what we needed, quiet and safe being up a private road and on a farm. The Coach house has all the amenities we wanted - well equipped kitchen, good shower and comfortable beds. The Coach House is spacious for a small cottage, has lots of plug sockets and there are large radiators in each room and a huge heated towel rail in the bathroom (which we didnt need!) The weather was fantastic when we stayed and despite being on the Birmingham flight path, and on a working farm that was harvesting, we managed to sleep with the windows open to allow the air to flow through. The surroundings are beautiful and lots of walking in the area. Shared laundry facilities in the main farmhouse, and a washing line in the private garden area.
We stayed here for a weekend break and would have been happy for it to be longer. However there are only two of us; although there are two bedrooms, it might be a touch cramped for a family, with only one bathroom and not much space around the dining table.
The kitchen area is well equipped and there's plenty of storage space for clothes, which isn't always the case. Beds and sofas were comfortable and it was nice, on a warm weekend, to have the French windows opening onto a private patio area.
The property is some way off the main road and mostly very quiet (although the pheasants can be surprisingly noisy!) However it's still very easy to get into Kenilworth and on from there to other parts of the Midlands.
We were a bit surprised that the owners did not contact us at all while we were there to ask if everything was all right. In fact there was some sort of a problem with the internet (good signal but no connection) which was eventually fixed after we phoned and left a message, but no apology and no reason given.
Other than that we enjoyed our stay, and would certainly recommend this cottage for couples or a small family.
Thank you for a relaxing holiday. Everything we needed was in the Coach House.
We will hopefully be coming again very soon.
This self-contained cottage is part of the Pleasance Farm a short walk from the impressive Kenilworth Castle. It's great for families with small kids, as it's a one-storey cottage with a small garden. As it's on a farm, there is cattle, chicken, horses and a very friendly cat. The cottage has all you need (combined dining/living room with kitchen with fridge, freezer, oven, stove, microwave, dishwasher; bathroom with shower, two bedrooms, TV, laundry close by etc). Everything is clean, cosy and pretty modern (very nice bathroom, by the way). The owners are very nice and helpful (and provide high-chairs and cots if needed). The surroundings are pretty farmland with nice walks.
Stayed for two weeks again. This property has everything you need in
self catering accommodation. It's clean, warm, quiet, well equipped and set
in idyllic surroundings within a working farm. Re booked for 2019 already!
Comfortable, clean and cosy ground floor accomodation.Very thoughtful hosts with every need catered for.Located outside of Kenilworth town on a farm so very peaceful setting with plenty of parking.I highly recommend you stay here.
On our latest visit (of many) to North Mere, we found The Coach House as immaculate as on our first visit. We come mainly to visit our young family who live nearby but It's always a pleasure to meet the Lucas family and learn of developments on the farm. In this day and age it is rare to find such a quiet rural spot so close to so-called "civilisation". We've come to regard North Mere as an oasis of sanity in an increasingly crazy world; and we will return again and again.
