Me and my partner are a big fan of the clarendon and enjoy our visits however our last experience left our view on their good service slightly tainted. We were charged for drinks and starters we never had and it took a while to sort. Finally resolved we still enjoyed our food as much as usual and would recommend their onion rings as a side. Their traditional deserts are lovely and would highly recommend the cookie dough with vanilla ice cream. Would be my favourite place if they started doing a few cocktails!!

Food lovely , service friendly. When the bill arrived we had been charged for two of every starter and pimms we never had ! When we queried the bill we were told that they have a faulty till and it some times does that so it was a good job I checked the bill as many people would just except bill and pay just think how many people are over paying !!!

A good selection of real ales as well as the usual suspects. A diverse menu and daily special's list are reasonably priced and the portions very fair. Attentive and able staff round out this pleasant gastropub.

The place was virtually empty when we arrived for an early (12.15) Sunday lunch but we were informed that we could only have a table if we left before 2. When we left, an hour or so later, at least half of the tables were still unoccupied. They either have lunch later than average in Kenilworth or a lot of people book a table and don't turn up.

Menu was fairly restricted but contained enough dishes of interest to keep most people happy, including us. Sadly the quality of the food did not match expectations. Crispy calamari was anything but crispy, although it was still a very pleasant dish and was well presented. I tried one of the specials, faggots and mash, and it can only be described as bland. Faggots should have quite a distinctive, almost gamey flavour. These were more like soft meatballs but without the seasoning. The mash and peas complimented them well by also lacking flavour. My partner's choice of gammon was good, and there was lots of it.

A good selection of real ales, a team of young and friendly staff who were obviously keen to do a good job, and reasonable prices meant that we agreed on an "average" rating, which is a shame because if the food was improved this could be a very good venue.

After being seated at the 'Bartender's Table', a small noisy table, far away from the Restaurant area, directly next to the bar, the meal took a drastic turn downhill. The Bartender's table is a bit like the Chef's Table, other than the fact unlike the Chef's Table, it seems the Clarendon seat you there if you don't want you upstairs. It's the worst seating for eating I've ever had the displeasure of dining at, so I hope they lose it soon. This was my third time eating here. It was also the third time eating at the Clarendon, where the manager was happy to say hello whilst he messed about with the books but did little to address the fact his staff, mostly children, were poorly trained and dismal at their jobs. An all too common occurrence in restaurants nowadays.

This is not a restaurant to go to if you want a decent, well-priced and well-presented meal. The vegetarian sausages my partner ordered were nothing like vegetarian sausages and were quite foul. The lasagne I ordered was basically mince and cheese. Awful service, awful layout, awful food.
