“Lovely room. Poor food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 November 2013 via mobile

We stayed as part of an event. Our room in the manor house was beautiful, very clean, lots of room but the beds were rock hard and very uncomfortable :(
We had lunch at the hotel. When we ordered we weren't told how long the wait was and after an hour went to find someone. Food finally arrived 20mins later, most meals were wrong and one had to go back. The soup was leek and potato but we were given tomato as the leek had run out! The manager did only charge us half price and gave us a bottle of wine but we expected better food.
At the event itself they ran out of soup so 2 of our party had to go without a starter. The main meal was tiny - one piece of chicken, 3 new potatoes and a couple of green beans. Dessert was very nice though.
Breakfast was plentiful with a huge choice - def the best meal of our stay.
The hotel was lovely and clean but the poor food let it down :(

Dear Mrs HS

I am very sorry the food did not meet with your expectations on this occasion but on a positive, note I am pleased you enjoyed our breakfast offering.

Naturally, your comments will be addressed by our Head Chef and I hope this will not deter you from trying us again in the future.

Kind regards

This hotel has the best of everything. It is placed in its own grounds with easy parking, but close to visitor attractions. The staff are excellent - with personalities of their own which give close attention to guests' needs and requirements. The hotel is roomy enough with space to relax with others or privately. The rooms are comfortable and have everything provided to a high standard.
THE FOOD EXCELLED! Corporate event, family stay, tourism, spa, romance...a treat for everyone if you stay here. An impressive stay that I shall remember for a long time to come as a great choice.

Room Tip: We were on the top floor and heard little in the way of noise. No real view, faced into a courtyard...

The events team staff tonight went above and beyond tonight! The hotel is spotless too - very clean. We deal with a lot of hotels and it takes a lot to impress us but we are really impressed! The staff were exceptional

My fiancé and I stayed here for 1 night as a birthday treat. The reception and bar staff were so professional and helpful.
The room was beautiful with excellent views. Staff recommended restaurants to try in kenilworth and we ended up eating at 'ego', which was perfect.
The only criticism I can make is that the pool was small and cold (which I appreciate they had boiler issues which they were working on) and the member of staff at reception in the leisure centre was a rude when I asked for a towel, as we weren't aware that we had to sign in. Obviously this is a common problem, so instead of being rude may I suggest putting a notice on the changing room doors to request all guests sign in at the reception desk.
Apart from that would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone else! Thank you for a lovely stay!

Dear JacL

Thank you for your review and for giving us a top score of 5. I am delighted you had an enjoyable stay and would return despite the service you received in the leisure club. I can assure you this is not our usualy standard and has been addressed.

We very much look forward to welcoming you back again in the future.

Stayed in this hotel with my wife for a Spa break package deal. The staff were well mannered and accommodating and the food was excellent (package included a 3 course dinner, buffet breakfast and lunch). Room was large and to good taste. Two things let it down for us slightly the first being the ridiculously uncomfortable bed, we rarely have sleep thanks to our very demanding children so was looking forward to some sleep, that didn't really happen. Finally this was sold as a Spa break where the deal included a 1 hour session for both us us, however due to staffing issues this resulted in only each receiving a 20 minute treatment and an additional treatment my wife booked was cancelled by them. Overall a good stay but let down by easily rectified issues.

Dear Elizabeth O

I am very sorry a couple of things lets us down during your spa break but you enjoyed the food and service from the team.

Unfortunately, we were unable to replace a member of the spa team at short notice but we have arranged an action plan to ensure this does not happen again. I hope you will give us another try in the future as this was a one off on this occasion.

Thanks again for your post and we hope to welcome you back again in the not too distant future.

My wife and I recently spent two nights at this hotel, to use as a base to visit, particularly, Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon.
It is a sizeable hotel and convention centre set in a very quiet countryside area. It has been extended several times from the central manor house, and now presents a very comfortable resting place. Our room was very quiet, as requested, beautifully decorated, and lacked nothing that we would have expected. The tea/coffee maker was appreciated, as always.
The buffet breakfast was substantial, and it would take a nit-picker to complain about the offerings. The dinner menu was varied and interesting, and quality was not lacking at all.
Overall, a thoroughly good professional and competent service from beginning to the end.
We would certainly return to this hotel if the need arose in the future.

My husband and I stayed here for a short spa break. It was lovely. The staff were helpful and very welcoming. The rooms are comfortable and had everything you could require on a short stay.

The hotel decor has character. The grounds are picturesque.

The meals were tasty and the service was good.

Overall, would stay here again.
