We stayed one night at The Kenilworth, and it more than lived up to expectations. The website is enticing and our room was indeed very nice. The outside bar feels like a Mediterranean getaway (we were lucky to have a hot night) , with a well thought-through planting scheme and thatched roof bar with patio heaters. The cocktails were very good - mine was on their specials list and had mango and honey! The indoor bar is informal and breakfast the next morning was very pleasant with a reasonable continental breakfast, newspapers and background jazz.
Service was very friendly, and it is well situated for nearby restaurants. We ate at Le Petit Gourmand a few doors down, which was very good.
Overall a lovely little find and I would highly recommend it.

I stayed at the Kenilworth when in the area for work and had been attracted by the website and the specifications outlined for the rooms. On arrival, was impressed by the service from the barman and really liked the decor and was immediately impressed by the bathroom in my room (room 5). It was one of the hot weeks in May and there was an issue with the heat in the bar and room, but we enjoyed a cocktail outside in the garden which was wonderful - felt like we were on holiday rather than in on a business trip. The outside bar is really lovely, quite a special spot.
There were some areas for improvement however, in the hotel. The room was quite small - the desk was too small to work, there was insufficient hanging space for 3 days worth of work clothes and there were no drawers as a substitute, so clothes had to stay in my suitcase over the week. There were specialist pillows in the rooms which were extremely uncomfortable, and no alternatives available in the room, so I had trouble sleeping, also the room was really light due to a sky light, so woke earlier than usual. The greatest issue however was the noise, I could hear the person in the next room talking and there was a lot of noise from the bar and people walking past the room.
Also found the breakfast to be a bit limited and the owners did not offer any of the breakfast menu items, and we had to ask for tea. Didn't feel like a very warm morning welcome.
Would recommend the hotel if it has competitive prices, but suspect there are better options in the area.

My boyfriend and I have just spent a weekend at the Kenilworth hotel. We stayed in Room 8 which is in the new part of the hotel. I couldn't fault the service from the staff; when we checked in we were shown to our room, they offered to carry my bags (not my boyfriend's!) and explained about breakfast times, how to use all the things in the room etc. We had also rung ahead a couple of days before and they were only too happy to recommend local restaurants. There is a good information folder in the room too. We loved the cocktail bar - I have never seen such a varied selection of cocktails and they were not too pricey either - between £6.50 and £8.00 which is excellent value. The bar itself is done out really nicely, good mix of old style beams and low ceilings with modern jazz artwork and music in the background. The service was again faultless, with waitresses showing us to a table for 2 near the window and prompt service of drinks. We went to Harringtons on the HIll for dinner on our first night - wonderful food but emptied out quite quickly for a Friday night, so the atmosphere could have been better.

The bed in room 8 has memory foam pillows and matress - the best night's sleep i've had in a while. However our only real complaint was that as it is a ground floor room, you do hear a lot of floorboard creaking from the room upstairs and we could pretty much hear their conversations and their TV, which was a shame as other than that the room was perfect. Another thing to point out is that the ground floor rooms don't have blinds and you are facing onto a residential cul-de-sac, so you have to have the curtains closed all the time which means no natural light is coming in. We did mention this to the management when we left and they will hopefully take it on board.

The breakfast was lovely - served in the cocktail bar and it is a buffet continental style.Really good selection of cereals, toast, spreads, pastries, yoghurts and fruit with all the papers spread out for your to read whilst eating. I really liked their crockery as well!

It's about 15 miles to Stratford so would recommend that as a day trip - we were very lucky with the weather and it's about half an hour in the car. We didn't visit Kenilworth castle but it looks great. We ate at Loch Fyne on our second night - i have been to them in other towns before and again couldn't fault it; you don't feel like you're in a chain restaurant and the food is great.

All in all a great stay but bear in mind my comments about the room.

Stayed in one of the rooms in the old part of the hotel - above the Cocktail bar on a Friday night - was told it might be a little noisy - but it was VERY noisy and the beat went on ... and on until after 12.30am - tho fine for a cocktail bar I think it's too late for a Hotel - they need to decide on their priorities - It was a shame as the room was great and full of nice touches and querks.

I stayed for business at the Kenilworth. Staff were perfect, room lovely, but wet room in bathroom meant I had to put towels on floor once I was dressed. No restaurant, but I ran across the road and grabbed a chinese takeaway. TV reception was not great and room (5) felt quite small - Wireless did not work in room but best night's sleep I've had in ages!

Kelly and lee from coventry!
My partner brought me hear for our aniversary, we stayed in room 3 and the style of the room was amazing, it had lots of unique features and offers what other big companys dont!....the bathroom was gorgeous, and the room was a very comfy stay. You dont have tea and coffee facilities but its free to order fresh coffee tea and milk to your room which is alot better as was fresh and they are very quick with service.
From the minuet we arrived we could not be helped anougth, we were made to feel very wellcome and anythink we was unsure of was answered very helpfully. The location is perfect it has a gorgeous cocktail bar in the hotel that you could easily spend your whole night hear! the breakfast was brilliantly arranged and everythink was lovely and fresh.
If you are looking for a hotel with a difference and rooms with charactor then i would highly recomend the kenilworth, this was our first time and we are already looking for an excuse to go back and stay, you will not be dissapointed and the owners are very wellcoming and helpfull its a shame other hotels couldnt take a leaf out of the kenilworths book :-)
If your looking to treat a special some one with a nice bottle of champagne ask june for the rose champagne (her sons favourite) as this is lovely and tastes gorgeous
this hotel is an all rounder and worth every penny!
