My husband and I are locals, just living up the road from this pub, and use it several times a month. Last night we needed to recover from a particularly sad funeral and decided the Red Lion was the place to go.

How right we were! Alastair, who is always really efficient and attentive, bent over backwards to help us have the evening we needed. We came away feeling "put together" again after enjoying delicious, tasty, well cooked food served by a dear waitress called Izzy.

So thank you everyone! We'll see you again very soon.

First of all the food is good value and is in the middle of Stratford Upon Avon and is not a Tourist Trap.

You get good quality food and the new summer menue offers a great range. There are special offers and a good menu for children. If its a sunny day, you can eat in the garden or in the restaurant.

On busy days there can be a wait for meals but this is acceptable given the numbers being served and the fact that ths is a tourist centre, but you can sit down and enjoy a drink while you wait. The staff will let you know if there is a waiting time, but you can book a table and pop back later.

I would avoid the midday rush and eat a little later.

One of the best things about this resaurant, its the staff, they really do make the effort and it shows.

My only concern ........ that now I have told you, I will not be abke to book a table. I usually make the 60 mile sround trip, every sunday to visit the Red Lion for lunch, so it must be good.

Had a problem with one item on the menu, but the service was rescued by John the waiter who is a credit to the restaurant.

Had a family meal here. Good choice menu, including the set menu and kids menu. Three kids had three courses and two adults two courses, with a round of drinks, came to £46.00. The food was all good quality, so pretty good value.
Convenient location for the centre of town. Family friendly.
Went back the next day for an afternoon drink and they had no ale left, which is hideous and unforgivable, hence low mark for service.

We visited on a Saturday evening having booked earlier (late afternoon). We were welcomed warmly and shown to a table without delay. The interior was warm and pleasant and very clean. The pub is a Table Table operation and the menu is Pub Grub "plus" with a particularly good range of vegetarian dishes (one of us is vegetarian). We chose Sausages and Mash and Country Vegetable Pie. Both were excellent...the garlic roasted potatoes were especially appreciated. Puddings selected were Eton Mess and Caramel Apple pie - again good portion sizes and very tasty. A couple of glasses of great house wines completed our evening. Waiting staff were numerous, attentive and excellent - Emily was our particular server and she was first rate! We even got a larger glass of wine because things were a little delayed. If you're looking for this kind of meal while in Stratford, this is the place. Excellent value and experience. Recommended.
