Description: Situated in the heart of Stratford upon Avon, 70 yards from Shakespeare's birthplace and 5 minutes from the Theatres, Il Moro is a family run Italian restaurant with a twist. Chef/owner Massimiliano Melis, from the south of Sardinia believes in serving traditional, simple, home-made Italian cuisine but also enjoys the challenge of infusing flavours from his homeland into his dishes. All of our pasta, bread and desserts are hand-made in house, making Il Moro a little bit more than the average Italian restaurant.Within stylish and elegant surroundings, guests can enjoy a glass of prosecco at the bar before dining or weather permitting, a light bite on the roof terrace which affords stunning views across the rooftops of Stratford. Stepping into Il Moro is like stepping into another world - one that is steeped with tradition and has a real authentic feel but is at the same time contemporary and fresh in its approach to food and service.

We ate here early on a Saturday night as the later times were already booked up. It was quiet when we arrived and although I initially wondered why we hadn't been able to book a later time, the restaurant soon got busier and it became clear that it was their way of achieving good service times for the food. We opted to share the starter on the specials board which consisted of deep-fried whitebait, squid and courgette flowers. It was excellently cooked with both the whitebait and squid being tender and moist, something that not all restaurants manage to achieve. We opted for two different pastas the Malloreddusu and the Sardinian Fregola. Both dishes were, again, excellently cooked and thoroughly enjoyed. We didn't feel we had enough room for a dessert each so we opted for the home-made chocolate truffles instead along with a couple of shorts one from Sardinia and a good quality Grappa. The service throughout the evening was excellent. The restaurant also offers Sardinian beer and wines which we tried and enjoyed. Both food and drink were reasonable prices and if we are in the area on another occasion we would definitely eat here again.

This little gem is tucked away on Greenhill Street. But not for long... Good luck at ur new venue.

Our meal last week was really something else. Prawns cooked to absolute perfection! We chose a stunning wine to compliment our meal - truly something special. Thank you & what a pleasure!!

Having been hearing good things about this place for a couple of years, we finally got our act together and went for a meal - the last night before the restaurant moves to new premises. We were not disappointed. From the friendly welcome on arrival to the complimentary liquor we were offered at the end of the meal, the service was impeccable and so welcoming. The atmosphere was warm, friendly and intimate and I hope that they can somehow keep this alive in the new premises. Food was outstanding - we went for the fish specials and they were so, so tasty. Desserts were delicious too and we left feeling like we had had one of our best meals ever in Stratford upon Avon. Definitely recommend you give it a try. Apparently they are going to have a bar area where you can have drinks with antipasti, plus a restaurant and a roof terrace. We will definitely be back.

This place is a lovely little oasis. It's food is delicious and the atmosphere very relaxing and intimate. However, i consider myself to be well travelled and certainly well fed!!! But the menu was incomprehensible. There was maybe an ingredient or two i recognised on each dish but had to have the entire menu translated to me. The italian waitress was also very quick to rush through the menu whilst talking to others coming and going - i think we were lucky to get what we did as it was delicious. I do not feel that good food needs to be elitist! Not even having the V sign next to vegetarian dishes meant that we nearly left before ordering.
