We chose this hotel based on the rating from this website and we were not disappointed. In fact, it was about the best thing that we found in Stratford-upon-Avon. On arrival, we were shown to our room by the very helpful receptionist. I found it very cute that each room is named after a tree. Our room was extremely large and exceptionally clean. Whilst our view was of the car-park, it was extremely quiet. The bathroom was spotless and large and the bath was a very good size!
We took a drink in the bar and whilst it is a very modern place, the staff were particularly slow. Even with a limited cocktail menu, the barman asked if I knew how to make the cocktail because he hadn't been shown. When I invited him to mix up a couple shots, he wasn't best pleased. With about 6 people waiting on drinks, I waited a good ten minutes each time I went to the bar!
The hotel is definitely on the nice side of town and is very relaxing area with the river flowing by. A real treat was to sit on the veranda having breakfast in the sun on Sunday morning. The inclusive breakfast was excellent and I couldn't find fault.
A nice touch is the fact that you can get DVDs in the reception and each room has a DVD player.
Stratford itself is kind of cute in parts but seems to be very rough. There wasn't much to do there other than see a play or go visit Shakespeare's house, which is quite expensive. If you are going to visit the town then stay in a nice hotel with a relaxing bar and I would highly recommend this one! If I could recommend one thing, it would be to ensure that the bar staff are trained and work a bit faster in serving drinks! They were extremely slow!
