“Perfect - highly recommended”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 June 2011

I stayed at The Arden recently for 2 nights, one before my wedding night, and then on my wedding night itself. We had booked a number of rooms for my family over 2 nights and I can't recommend the place highly enough. The staff were absolutely superb from start to finish, and the rooms were lovely. On the Friday I stayed in Mulberry which was lovely, with a fabulous free-standing bath in the room overlooking the River Avon. On the Saturday my wife and I stayed in Acer, which one of the larger rooms. Again, perfect. The hotel staff even made sure nobody stayed in Acer (thus losing out on a potential booking) on the Friday night meaning that could use it to get ready in on the morning of my wedding. We had a large family dinner on the Friday night, and the food and service were top class. The food is what I call 'designer food', and perhaps my only complaint would be that the portions weren't big enough. All in all a great couple of nights and I highly recommend The Arden if visiting Stratford. Oh and location is as good as it gets too!

Room was super comfy, and has the best location in SUA. Bed was sublime. Great Service, and, how can you go wrong when you get a Shakespeare mask at check in? Only downside was that the hallway and the room got really hot during the day, and there is no A/C.

We stayed for one night en route to the South of England. Staying there was an enjoyable experience. Rooms were well decorated and beds were good.

We had lunch in the restaurant, which was good due to the company, but to be honest the food was forgettable.

Breakfast the following morning was similar.

Stayed two nights and not at all bad by comparison with other hotels in Stratford (we stay regularly in the area) but short of first class. Is it really necessary to put a plastic orchid in the bathroom or have plastic flowers in the corridors and even throughout the reception area?
Service throughout is reasonable, apart from in the restaurant which appears to rely upon largely untrained staff - a great shame because the food is mostly good. A dish of scallops and battered squid was spoiled by being served cold on cold plates with consequently soggy squid (obviously left lying around too long before service) but a veal dish was stunning and accompanying spinach (not the easiest vegetable to get right) was perfect. I understand from hotel staff that this restaurant aspires to a Michelin star and the 4 of us who ate there together on the Friday night of our stay thought it possible if the chef can attain more consistency because at his best he meets that level. This in unquestionably the best food in Stratford by miles.
However Michelin stars demand more than just food quality and the chef is let down by the service in the restaurant. Unknowledgable, indifferent, untrained and uncaring best sums it up. What a shame!

The location of the hotel on the river, just across from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, could not be better. Close to some wonderful bars and restaurants too. The hotel has lovely contemporary decor and a feel good factor.
An enjoyable stay.

My excellent experience at The Arden started when the room was booked with the concierge questionnaire e-mailed to me asking what type of pillows I required (feather of course) if I required sheets or a duvet, chocolates or flowers in the room and many other items available on request.

I arrived at the Hotel at about 15.00hrs after being up since 02.30 in the morning, I was met with a nice warm welcome when checking in which was the quickest and most efficient out of any hotels that I have stayed in within Stratford. The escort to the room and the standard of the room was excellent, it was clean, contained everything that any one would need from the personnel touches of the variety of toiletries, bath robe, fresh coffee and a wide range of television channels available on the large flat screen television. The visit by the housekeeping staff to prepare the bed is an excellent touch and just added to the experience.

I had the best nights sleep ever and could have just there all day taking in the wonder full experience of The Arden, I am glad I didn’t because my stay was finished of superbly by excellent service in the restaurant and a perfectly cooked breakfast with each item having its own individual taste.

My check out was as simple as the check in and I would recommend this Hotel to any one whether on business or for pleasure.

Well done to all the staff and management for a superb experience.

Convenient location, great parking, lovely rooms that are warm, cosy and quiet. Staff very nice and helpful. One of the best hotels in the world that we have stayed at.

Room Tip: All rooms we had were good.
