We had only planned to be away a couple of days before I booked this hotel and so it was a last minute decision without too much research! But what a pleasant surprise and at such good value for money. We were greeted with the news that we had been upgraded to a deluxe room so that was a good start. The room itself was delightful, looking out over the theatre and with all the amenities you could need both in the bathroom and hospitality tray. Lots of little extras to set it apart from a standard chain hotel.
Breakfast we first rate with fresh cooked hot selection rather than the usual dried up buffet - and a great selection of hot options as well. Afternoon tea was a delight and probably enhanced by being taken in the sun drenched garden.
All in all a great experience and not spoilt by being "Shakespeare" over the top like most of Stratford. That said - what a fantastic location for the theatre where we saw a great production of Henry IV.
The week before we had stayed in a much higher price chain hotel in Birmingham which was a poor experience and so enhanced even more our enjoyment at the Arden.

I booked this hotel seeing all the reviews of this hotel but was disappointed with the service. The front desk lady seems nonchalant and gave us a room on the other end of the hotel maybe she was selecting a room where the ac dint work. We were in a package including dinner and the waitress was irritated when we showed up at9:20 and barked at us to tell all the orders in 1minute as they dint operate after 9:30,even though the front desk told us that last orders were at 9:45.they charged our son 25 pounds for sharing our bed,and told us it's the same even if we dint want an extra bed as he was very young. None of the hotels elsewhere charged us for sharing the bed. I guess the people who gave good reviews dint have the same problems.the good thing about this hotel is the location.

Room Tip: Choose a room where the ac works.you wouldn't know it until the you start sweating at night .

We highly recommend The Arden not only as a fantastic wedding venue but also as simply a great place to stay.
The location is idilic, opposite the RSC and overlooking the river, gardens etc.
Our wedding was relatively small circa 40 people, but the staff, the service, the food, the organisation, the attention to detail was second to none.
So many thanks to all the staff who made sour day so special, it far exceeded our expectations, and special thanks to jane, Tim, David, Charlotte, and all other staff... The wedding breakfast was spectacular and very well organised.
On a more general note, if it is just a general hotel stay you are after, The Arden excels, the rooms are well equipped and again service excellent.
Great location, great hotel, we will be back.....

The real plus about the Arden is it's proximity to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. It is very comfortable and clean and the staff very friendly. Suggest may be that it could show more imagination in the way it connects to all that is local and Shakespeare and have more character.

This was our second stay at the Arden and both times were great. The location is perfect, right opposite the Royal Shakespeare Company. The rooms are clean and decorated to a high standard. The breakfast was lovely. Would without a doubt recommend this hotel and will be back again for a third visit.

We would always want to return to this hotel. The location was perfectly situated by the quiet river bank, but within a few minutes walk of the main street and shops. Off street parking provided with easy access to the hotel. The room was high standard ,spacious, and bathroom had even more space with a separate walk-in shower. Fittings of the highest quality. Walking through the front door on arrival one has difficulty in finding reception if there is no staff to direct you upstairs, and once registered , can involve a long walk turning this way and that to find your room.
Pleasant terraces and peaceful lounge together with excellent service and food contributed to a memorable first visit on our 60th wedding anniversary and we are very grateful to the staff and management of this top class hotel and will visit once again in the near future.
