I booked this hotel for a surprise overnight stay to celebrate my husband's birthday. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The room was excellent, very clean, spacious and comfortable with a very large bathroom. The room and bathroom had all the small touches that are often overlooked. A birthday card and small box of chocolates awaited my husband, courtesy of the hotel, a lovely touch. The location is wonderful, directly across from the RSC Theatre and the river. The weather was very kind to us and we dined and breakfasted on the Waterside Terrace. The food was excellent, service very professional and friendly. We chose the pre theatre dinning option having our starter and main course early and our dessert, coffee and liquors after the show. We are already looking forward to staying at The Arden again.

Having read a few unfavourable reviews for both the hotel & it's restaurant, & given the price per room, I hoped this hotel would deliver - but deliver it did!

Not sure when those bad reviewers stayed, but I couldn't fault it. From the super-quiet aircon to the leaf tea at breakfast, everything was top class with super attention to detail.

Lovely room & great food in the restaurant, especially the chocolate & cherry pudding!

Would definitely recommend.

My wife and I stayed one night at the Arden Hotel in Stratford Upon Avon a couple of weeks back. We were attending a wedding just outside the town.

This was my first time to Stratford and in fairness I didn’t know what to expect – the town blew me away with its beauty and character. We were lucky to visit whilst the River Festival was taking place – the town was vibrant, full of colour, a joy to be a part of the festivities. Of course the weather helped being in the early 20’s – it was a perfect summers day. I have to mention the river itself – what a lovely sight with many willow trees cascading along the river bank
.
The Arden Hotel is a gem, beautifully appointed, a true delight. Even though we only stayed the one night, we felt very comfortable and at home. The staff were helpful and courteous, check in was fast and simple. The common areas were clean and furnished to a high standard. We liked the décor and colour scheme throughout the hotel. Lovely pastel colours mixed with generous natural light into the common areas made the hotel feel relaxed. The hotel has its own free car parking for its guest which is a great benefit. The buildings are set in lovely gardens, they have a lovely lavender path which was pretty. Again all external areas were well maintained, clean and tidy.

We had a superior room at the front of the building facing the Theatre/River. Again and in line with the hotel, it was well appointed, clean and had the usual mod coms you would expect to find in a room of this type. The bed was extremely comfortable. The décor in the room was a mixture of modern, classic and vintage fixture and fittings which really worked well together. The bathroom was a little on the small side, however it got huge points for the styling and cleanliness. Again the bathroom came with all mod coms.

Breakfast was marvellous. We ordered the vegetarian full English breakfast which came with Linda McCartney veggie sausages, baked beans, two fried eggs, two cooked tomatoes, a field mushroom and fried bread – all ingredients were cooked to perfection. This was one of the best breakfast we have had in a long time in a hotel. My orange juice was fresh, my latte was soft and smooth. Again the staff could do no more, they were fantastic as they have been throughout the hotel – they ensured we had everything at our disposal.

We have already decided that we will be returning to The Arden in the near future. Our experience and stay even though short was extremely enjoyable and we were made to feel at home - it’s a big thumbs up from us.

Room Tip: Choose a superior room facing the river.

Fantastic location, amazing room, lovely bed, pillows linen etc; nice food in the restaurant and a great breakfast. Highly, highly recommended.

Would make a great weekend break I would think, though we took advantage of an incredible value Sunday night + dinner offer

We have just spent two nights at the Arden and very much enjoyed our stay.
We opted for a superior room and we were impressed by the size, comfort, and the very good bathroom.
We had lunch twice on the Terrace and enjoyed the sunshine and good food. The car park is very convenient and the position opposite the Theatre and close to the river cannot be bettered.
Staff were a little relaxed at times, and we were disappointed that our room had not be cleaned by lunchtime, which is not really acceptable in a hotel of this standard.
That aside no complaints however.

Room Tip: Superior rooms seem to be larger, but ones at the front look over the theatre and the river

Beautifully decorated hotel in a great location. Rooms have all mod cons. Restaurant service OK, but reception desk staff were rather cold and aloof. Fixed price dinner menu was excellent value.
Ask for a room at the front with views of the river and RSC. Strangely, these rooms seem to be cheaper because they don't have a bathtub. My friend's room towards the back had a larger bathroom but a view of a carpark, and cost a fair bit more, which was strange.

Room Tip: Ask for front room with river view

I totally agree with the previous review, this hotel is beautifully furnished, has lovely rooms and is in a fantastic location but is let down by the service at breakfast and dinner. The food was ok but not exceptional for the price you pay to stay there - 285.00 per room per night including a cooked breakfast. Breakfast was served rather than buffet which was a pleasant change, but we did have to wait a while for it. Dinner was the same, we had to wait a while for our order to be taken and to receive a drink. The food was ok, the lamb was overcooked as was the bacon at breakfast but compared to Lambs the previous evening, there was no comparison in terms of food and service. The room was beautiful, clean and very nicely furnished but I do like a couple of bars of soap - one for the shower and one for the sink to wash hands. Likewise we like a couple of cups of tea in the morning and would therefore like four tea bags rather than two. Nice to have fresh milk rather than UHT but these are just our own personal requirements. Would I return again, well the answer is probably because of the location and car parking facilities, but service and food would need to be greatly improved.
