We had a lovely 3 night stay. Three excellent lazy and good quality breakfasts and 2 evening meals when it was hard to choose from the menu it all looked so good.
Lovely room with all mod cons including wifi and flat screen TV, but also nice tea and coffee making stuff with real milk, biscuits and port.

Been whisked away to this gorgeous hotel as a 40th birthday celebration and it's absolutely lovely. We were given Room 3 and it's exactly like the pictures! Lovely large room, roll top bath and clean beyond belief! There's a few extra touches such as port and chocolates which gives this hotel that little bit more. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive, without being over the top. The restaurant food is really nice both for breakfast and dinner, and both this and the bar area have been packed out both nights. A really lovely hotel and I would definitely recommend staying here!

Stayed at the CST for two nights with husband - as a weekend without the kids - and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Great location and a nice buzz about the hotel - morning, noon and night. Not a cheap place, but didn't begrudge paying for the beautifully decorated interiors and intimate yet lively ambiance. Perfect for a special weekend away. Staff were very friendly too and and made you feel welcome at every turn.

We ate at the restaurant one night. Food was good although as a veggie it would have been nice to have a little more choice. Great selection of 'fish' specials however. We also enjoyed the breakfast, which was both good in terms of quality and choice. Only criticism - cold/hard butter, never helpful when buttering your toast!

Thoroughly recommend as a destination for staying over and/or just popping in for a drink and a bite to eat whilst in Stratford.

The rooms and the service are great. However, Parking is a problem and although there are two local car parks one won't allow you to leave before 8am the other you have to leave before 8am. Parking on the street is possible but you are lucky to find a space. I would also recommend avoiding room 15 which has the air con just outside the windows which can be noisy although everything else about the room is very nice , if quaint.

Room Tip: Free Internet available but only accessable from certain rooms and public areas

Our first visit to this hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon lived up to all expectations. We were delighted by the little surprises of a complementary flagon of port, a bag of shortcakes, fresh milk, real coffee and tea in the room. We were in Room 6 which overlooked Church Street. A little expensive at £160.00 but we wanted to be close to the theatres and town centre. We had a lovely light pre theatre meal in plenty of time to see the show without feeling rushed. The bar area was lively, but it was not noisy in our room. Good quality cosmetics and fluffy towels in the bathroom, hair straighteners too. The rooms definitely have a feminine touch. I would have liked a bath, but the shower was nice and powerful. The car park is a few streets away, but you can unload luggage just outside the hotel. There's a lot of choice at breakfast, which was included in the price. At £160 a room, we will not be frequent visitors, but for the occasional treat, it is ideal.

Room Tip: Rooms facing church Street have more atmosphere

We stayed at the Church Street Townhouse on the night of the 18th December 2011 for my husbands birthday and can not recommend it highly enough. As it was a Sunday night we were not expecting it to be busy and to perhaps even be slightly lacking in the atmosphere you would normally get on a Friday or Saturday night, but we couldn't have been more wrong - the atmosphere was electric!

The bar and restaurant were heaving from our arrival at 3pm on Sunday afternoon until we retreated to our room at around midnight and we could see why. The staff were friendly, professional and unpretentious and clearly enjoyed their place of work. We booked a table for dinner in the restaurant (a must) and the food was fantastic. The same goes for breakfast the following morning - lots of choice and absolutely delicious.

We stayed in Room 3 (which we had asked for when booking) which was large, beautifully furnished, had a lovely roll top bath and a great monsoon shower. Although no minibar (I guess there is a bar just a few steps away anyway) there were tea & coffee making facilities and a decanter of port and two mince pies left for us - a nice touch.

Overall a really fab experience and we would definitely return.

Room Tip: Room 3 is large, atmospheric and one of the 3 with a roll top bath.

We booked this hotel through Mr & Mrs Smith and were massively impressed.

The welcome was fantastic, the room was very clean, modern with everything you need and a few extra goodies!

We drank in the bar and had food in the restaurant. The breakfasts were great with lots of choice. The food was very nice and the £20 champagne happy hour was highly enjoyed !!

One thing to note is that there is no hotel parking but they have an arrangement with a nearby NCP to park at £4 per day, and it's 5 minutes away.

Would recommend this hotel and will do to friends who live nearby.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
This recently refurbished boutique hotel is housed in a 400 year old listed building in the heart of Stratford upon Avon. Located opposite Shakespeare's school, among the ancient half-timbered buildings the town is famous for and only 2 minute's walk to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. This is THE place for a pre-theatre supper - local pianists play at 5.30pm daily and the atmosphere is great. The 12 funky en-suite bedrooms vary in size, cost and view. Try for a room at the front of the building for the perfect view. Great food is served all day, through till 10pm in this buzzy neighbourhood bistro with Afternoon Tea a particular favorite. Champagne Happy Hour is every Friday at 5pm and the bar is packed with a great, upmarket local crowd. The staff make the place and nothing is too much trouble. ... more   less
