Having read all the reviews on Trip Advisor before we booked we weren't disappointed. A fantastic little hotel with great charm and all the little touches you'd hope for! Loved the port in the room, the abundance of champagne in the bar, the live piano playing, awesome breakfast and central location. Perfect for our romantic getaway.

I was recommended to this fine establishment by a friend, I called and talked over my requirements and wanted the best room available. I was truly overwhelmed by room 3, the use of new with old were impeccable and the beams, drapes etc were lavish. I would say it is a place for couples, more than families as they have a great restaurant and fine bar. The bar was great, we just sat enjoying a bottle of Rose Champagne people watching, all the locals were very entertaining and the staff were very helpfull. On the negative.....there wasn't one. I will be back sooner than you think. Thank you to Rachel and the team.....

Room Tip: ROOM 3, perfect to take your partner.

Stayed at the Church Street Townhouse for 3 nights to celebrate our anniversary. This place is wonderful. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Location is perfect to explore Stratford being just 2 blocks from Bridge Street and minutes walk to the theatre. The rooms were very nice, excellent en-suite in a historic building. Make sure to eat in the restaurant, amazing chef.

The place is popular with the local residents too so that is a great indicator of how good it is.

Room Tip: Stayed in room 10 with lovely views of Church Street.

Have just returned from a two night stay with 3 other couples, we wanted something special and thats what we got. The staff are quite something, We were amazed at their friendliness, it must be an HR logistical nightmare to keep such good quality staff - long may it continue. Yes, the bar was busy, we were there on a Friday & Saturday night, but we never had to wait for more than a minute or two for service but probably not the place if you want a quiet chat. The food in the restaurant was very good both evening meal and breakfast.
Overall we loved it and would not hesitate to return.

Room Tip: Room 2 was good, large bedroom and equally large/huge bathroom.

The restaurant is absolutely superb - really friendly staff, quirky trendy surroundings and superb food - absolutely excellent. Great buzzy atmosphere. As far as the accommodation goes you definitely need to pick your room. There are 3 price brackets and there is the front and back of the property. I think price equates to size of room and I was in a mid price room - the room itself was perfectly big enough to get around but the ensuite was bijou to say the least!...so tight it was actually difficult to use the facilities! In terms of front or back of the hotel - the front is all lovely big windows and street scapes, the back is very dark with low ceilings, so if you are in any way claustrophobic go for the front rooms. That is not to take away from the atmosphere of the place at all - It's a trendy, quirky townhouse, so if you like large, airy rooms, probably not the place for you, but if you like personal touches like port and shortbread in the room, purple and silver decor and a young, good-looking, vibrant staff, then it will be you down to a tee.

Stayed here using some MrandMrsSmith hotel vouchers we had been given as a wedding present.
If we were to pay normally definitely wouldn't have stayed. For £180 a night it is most definitely not worth the money.

The decor is nice with a very comfortable extra large bed. Left us some treats in the room, creme egg as it was easter, quite a sweet touch. Staff were very friendly but most were young kids and could not advise on the local area.
We were in room 9 which is above the kitchens, so we continually heard the kitchen staff moaning aswell as incredibly loud and continuous smashing of bottles going in the recycle bin.
The bathroom is tiny with a shower with very basic toiletries. The TV is on the far wall and at a very bad angle so it cant be watched.
We had dinner there which was nice. Good breakfast choice but not very well made.
The bar is obviously the place to be in Stratford as it was packed both nights. However we couldn't stay for a drink as it was too busy, so busy we could barley get through the crowd of people to get to our room. Was quite intimidating. They really should have a residents bar (they did have one but was full of non residents?!). It is very unfair to charge this amount of money yet not give you the opportunity to stay and have a drink.
Great location walk into town in 5 minutes, although Stratford is only small so this is pretty much a given.

All in all a nice enough hotel but extremely overpriced.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the lower floors

This recently refurbished boutique hotel is housed in a 400 year old listed building in the heart of Stratford upon Avon. Located opposite Shakespeare's school, among the ancient half-timbered buildings the town is famous for and only 2 minute's walk to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. This is THE place for a pre-theatre supper - local pianists play at 5.30pm daily and the atmosphere is great. The 12 funky en-suite bedrooms vary in size, cost and view. Try for a room at the front of the building for the perfect view. Great food is served all day, through till 10pm in this buzzy neighbourhood bistro with Afternoon Tea a particular favorite. Champagne Happy Hour is every Friday at 5pm and the bar is packed with a great, upmarket local crowd. The staff make the place and nothing is too much trouble. ... more   less
