“Perfect Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 December 2013

Absolutely love this hotel/bar/restaurant! We stayed for 1 night on a Friday on our way up north and it was perfect. We arrived in time to hear some live entertainment which was a bonus. The bar is cosy with a really friendly atmosphere. The restaurant is comfortable with really good food. The hotel room, although relatively small was very comfortable - mini bottle of champagne and a bottle of port on the dresser, really tasty mini brownies, flapjacks and shortbread, tea and coffee (real coffee!) and REAL milk in the mini fridge! Really comfy beds. Breakfast was brilliant - a bonus as we didn't know it would be included. Great choice and the best eggs benedict I have ever had. Staff VERY good - offering refills of juice and tea and coffee and drowning us in toast! Will definitely be going back. It is rare to find such excellence in all areas in one place!

Just returned from a fabulous weekend stay! From the moment we arrived we felt like we were staying with friends. The staff were first class, the food and drink were divine and the room (no.12) was just perfect. Although the bar and restaurant were busy, the vibe was very relaxed and the service impeccable. Simply wonderful.

Just had an exceptional stay at The Townhouse. From the first call, to the final check out I was impressed with the top level of service. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the attention to detail makes it even more enjoyable - the port, candles in the bath, beautifully wrapped shortbread etc. The beds are super comfortable. The customer service is excellent (thanks Natalie!) and the breakfast was delicious with a wide range on offer.

Fabulous experience, will definately go back again.

Room Tip: Worth paying a little extra for room 3 - huge bath, candles, heavy drapes - very romantic!

We stayed at the lovely Church St Townhouse on 3rd December, We had rooms 11 and 12. 11 had a double shower and room 12 had a double shower and bath tub with candles. The rooms are delightful and well worth the money. We arrived after dark and the Christmas lights of Stratford gave it a lovely setting. The hotel is very near the high street in a really good position. The staff are very friendly especially the housekeeper who had a great sense of humour. Rooms are spotless, with tea tray which included a cafetiere and every type of tea and still and sparkling water, really comfortable king size bed ,with every extra in the room, breakfast delicious, What more could you want. Yes you do have to park in local ncp carpark but not a problem at all. Lovely lovely hotel.

Room Tip: Room 12 top floor double aspect.

Room 3 in the beautiful Church Street Townhouse is absolute luxury. We spent my recent birthday here and the service, attention to detail and fantastic breakfast made the occasion so special. There had been a slight computer glitch in the booking system, so when we arrived there was no room booked! Tragedy! Complimentary coffee in the gorgeous bar area while they found the communication and rectified the error.
The room was extraordinary , every little detail to make the stay perfect. We were even given a complimentary bottle of champagne as an apology.
The staff were universally cheerful and friendly. The breakfast a delicious and leisurely occasion. Next time we will eat diviner here too as it looked fantastic!
Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: Room 3 - it's certainly worth it!

Just returned from a weekend away in Stratford-upon-Avon. We stayed 2 nights at the Church Street Townhouse, which is a luxury boutique hotel close to the town centre.
The hotel is well located and has been decorated to a very high standard, what I would describe as a combination of contemporary and rustic (not easy to do!).

The rooms are a little on the small side, however a lot of thought has been put into the touches that really make this hotel great (including complementary shortbread and hair straighteners for use during your stay). The beds were really comfortable and we had a very relaxing stay (helped by the fact they serve breakfast till 11am!).

We had breakfast and a couple of light meals whilst at the hotel, and the food is of a very high standard. The staff seem to work long days, but they are all extremely friendly and the level of service is excellent!

If you do visit, make sure to try the afternoon tea as it was really tasy!

Please visit this hotel, absolutely fabulous, central location, staff really friendly & accomodating, relaxed atmosphere, beautiful room ( No 3) with roll-top bath in room & en-suite, ironing board, hairdryer even hair straighteners, plenty of lovely towels, fridge with proper milk (not those horrible sachets) port & shortbread.
Al la carte breakfast, cooked to perfection and plenty of it, refills of juice and coffee/tea nothing too much trouble. we also had dinner which was lovely and very good value.Parking was not an issue for us, but I believe parking in stratford is difficult wherever you stay particular in the centre of town. we have stayed in many hotels all over the world and this hotel more than ticked all the boxes, they also do a champagne happy hour on a friday evening.
We would definitely recommend this hotel and is well worth a visit for a meal or just a drink, we are really looking forward to a return visit

Room Tip: Room 3 is fabulous

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
This independently owned boutique hotel is housed in a 400 year old listed building in the heart of Stratford upon Avon. Located opposite Shakespeare's school, among the ancient half-timbered buildings the town is famous for and only 2 minute's walk to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. This is THE place for a pre-theatre supper - local pianists play at 5.30pm daily and the atmosphere is great. The 12 funky en-suite bedrooms vary in size, cost and view. Try for a room at the front of the building for the perfect view. Great food is served all day, through till 10pm in this buzzy neighbourhood bistro with Afternoon Tea a particular favourite. Champagne Happy Hour is every Friday at 5pm and the bar is packed with a great, upmarket local crowd. The staff make the place and nothing is too much trouble. ... more   less
