From the wonderful receptionist, via the gorgeous period building, luxurious rooms and delicious food; this has been nothing but a delightful stay from start to finish!! We absolutely loved every minute of our stay!

There was complimentary port, miniature cakes and champagne in the room, and we were surprisingly upgraded to larger quarters simply because "they were free anyway".

The rooms are beautifully refurbished to a high standard, with modern comforts and period luxury. Nice, super sized bed, and a warm room. Sizeable shower with lots of water pressure, and special details such as gourmet teas and coffee.

The dining area is beautiful and charming, and the staff makes you feel right at home. Food was fantastic, and being a coeliac, I was very well taken care of by knowledgable and helpful staff!

Absolutely fantastic!!

I was lucky enough to stumble across this 12 roomed boutique hotel at the beginning of my work related 16 week stay in Stratford. I had stayed in a couple of neighbouring hotels, all fine and clean, but this one stands head and shoulders above the rest. From the moment you enter you know you have hit somewhere with style. The bar and restaurant areas, even when full, are chic and friendly.
The service is always top and there is nothing they wont try to get right. I stay there a coule of times a week at the moment, not for much longer tho' as work moves me on, but it's like visiting with friends, and not just the staff actually. All the other customers are of a like mind.
The rooms are varying in size, but they all have good comfy beds and similar chic siver dressing tables with a wee decanter of port and special shortbead biscuits that immediately make the room feel like a treat!
I would, and do recommend this hotel to everyone.

Our family stayed here while visiting Stratford and the local areas - it was a great base for us! Ideal location with comfortable room and beds to return to each evening. The access to dvd's was great for the kids (teenagers) at night. The hotel is excellent value for money - clean, comfortable, and wonderful, friendly service. The staff really go out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay. Just up the road from the theatre made it great to enjoy a meal at their restaurant where the food is excellent, and then be at the theatre for a show in only a couple minutes. The bar has a cosy quality to it that makes you feel welcome and with the friendly locals that come in it makes you feel like a local yourself - we greatly enjoyed our late evenings at the bar. Our family enjoyed our stay - we highly recommend!

The position of the hotel is excellent. I loved the small port decanter and the lovely casket biscuit bites. The bed was very comfortable with soft cotton sheets. Couldn't fault the bathroom and toiletries. The hotel does have that luxury feel but it is a bit tired in places partly because it is an old building.
We went one up from the basic room so I was a bit disappointed by the room being quite so cramped. Ours was a room at the front of the building. There is a nice restaurant and bar in the hotel and I was quite relieved this wasn't too noisy in the room. The problem was though that there were a lot of strong cooking smells in the room.
The breakfast was one of the best I've had in a hotel and the staff welcoming and friendly.
We would go again but I probably wouldn't take the same room.

We stayed here as a large family group with 4 children and 7 adults. We knew the townhouse is not suitable for children but the team made our stay fantastic. Special mention to Natalie in the restaurant and the chef at breakfast. We had an awesome stay and thoroughly recommend the rooms (comfy beds in all), the breakfast (perfect service, tasty food well cooked), the dinner (excellent service in the library room with interesting menu and enjoyed by all). Can't fault the stay at all as the service was awesome. Well done!

Room Tip: We stayed above the bar but still had a good nights sleep. One of our rooms was above the smoking ar...

We were lucky enough to get a last minute cancellation here and it was great value. The room was stylish, if a little small and we thought it might be noisy being at the top of the main staircase but it was fine.

Breakfast was lovely & we stayed for Sunday lunch which was also very good, although the fish dish we had was very small.

It's minutes from the theatre and shopping area but has a nicer ambience than many larger tourist-attracting hotels in town.

We'll definitely book in again next time we visit the theatre.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
This recently refurbished boutique hotel is housed in a 400 year old listed building in the heart of Stratford upon Avon. Located opposite Shakespeare's school, among the ancient half-timbered buildings the town is famous for and only 2 minute's walk to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. This is THE place for a pre-theatre supper - local pianists play at 5.30pm daily and the atmosphere is great. The 12 funky en-suite bedrooms vary in size, cost and view. Try for a room at the front of the building for the perfect view. Great food is served all day, through till 10pm in this buzzy neighbourhood bistro with Afternoon Tea a particular favorite. Champagne Happy Hour is every Friday at 5pm and the bar is packed with a great, upmarket local crowd. The staff make the place and nothing is too much trouble. ... more   less
