“A perfect Christmas 2012”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 December 2012

We stayed for 2 nights over Christmas with the children in The Lady Caroline Suite. We had a superb stay in every respect. Fabulous food and wonderful courteous happy service from all of the Staff throughout our stay. The Hotel was festively decorated throughout and loads going on to ensure all Guests were kept entertained. Quite a superb stay yet again!

Check in was quick. We booked it through travel agent and everything was prepared for our check in. Reception was friendly.

Hotel: Is a former stately building turned into hotel so there's not elevators.

Location and surrounding: Away from the actual town center so one might need a car to go around town (5mins ride only). But it's surrounding is pretty and quite. Good for people who wants peace and relaxing time.

Room: We stayed in a good sized family room which can fit 2 adults and 2 children (above 8yo) comfortably though the bed set up is one big king size and a single bed.

Amenities: Mineral water, tea, coffee maker, soap, shampoo (though no toothbrush) and internet was provided for free during stay. TV was an Mac Apple which one can also used as computer.

Overall, we had a lovely stay and will recommend it to others though for people who do not have cars, it would be better to choose another hotels in the city.

I originally wrote a review back in February 2012 when myself and a group of friends attended the hotel and spa for a hen party pamper overnight stay. We had a series of issues which the hotel apologised profusely for after the event and offered us a discount if we would return for a visit.

So we duly did, at the beginning of December and I am pleased to say that it was a completely different experience. It was apparent that the spa had a different manager as the arrangement was much more professional than our original visit. We were given a bag with our spa kit inside, rather than having to scrabble around for dressing gowns and towels. The treatments were on time and were excellent.

Our spa apartment was beautiful and so spacious for the five of us. It probably would sleep 8, but even then it was big enough to accommodate this number.

So, all in all a much better experience and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and spa to anyone who fancies a bit of luxury for a weekend :-)

Visited the Hotel & Golf Course in September 2012, great course, pity we couldn't play both days due to extreme amounts of rain, but the day we did play the course was great and had some very hintersting holes. The Hotel & Spa certainly made up for the bad weather. If you haven't played this course i would certainly recomend it.

Room Tip: We had a ground floor room over looking the course which was great.

We had a three day D,B &B break in December. There was simply nothing we could fault. Every member of staff was welcoming and helpful. The food was well presented and very interesting. The golf course is great value for residents and is quite a test although a bit soft after all the rain we've had.
We have no hesitation in recommending this establishment. Menzies are really trying and it shows.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the garden.

We went to this hotel for my Daughter's wedding on 16th December. We stayed from the 15th till the 17th and everything was perfect. The rooms were fantastic, the staff could not have been more helpful, the food was divine and everything was totally wonderful. Everywhere we went in the hotel was clean and sparkling. An extra person turned up for the Saturday evening meal and there was just no fuss, another place was set and we got on with it. The Bridal suite where everyone got changed, hair done and make up, was amazing, With 12 people in it, (photogaphers, bridesmaids, bride, make up people, hair people mothers of the bride and groom) there was still oodles of space. It was no worry to them when one of the party overslept by over an hour after they should have been out of the room on the Monday. It was amazing. We were so pleased my daughter and her new husband chose it. I am hoping to arrange to go for their anniversary.

Room Tip: All are good, but rooms overlooking the gardens have the best view
