“Fantastic Gem Of A Hotel”
Reviewed 23 February 2013

We arrived at the Menzies on Thursday 21st of February, the drive up to the hotel was very impressive, as was the hotel when t come into view. We were warmly greeted by the receptionist, our room wasn't ready, which wasn't a problem as we had arrived late morning and hadn't expected it to be. We were asked if we wanted to use the spa facilities while our room was being prepared. Which we were planning to do.
The spa facilities were second to none. A very clean and well equipped spa with 4 spa rooms, a beautiful inside and outside pool. The staff were very helpful in explaining the codes to get in, lockers etc. we did use the gym before hand, and although quite small it had a wide range of equipment. The spa facilities were certainly a wonderful extra to the hotel.
The hotel itself was very beautiful and well decorated with a lovely large open fire and plenty of sitting to relax and just to let time slip away.
We ate at the restaurant in the evening and again could find no fault with either the quality of the food or the staff.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who would like a relaxing break in a beautiful maintained hotel and with stunning scenery. Well done the staff at the Menzies no wonder this is your flagship hotel.

Room Tip: We had a garden view which was lovely to look out too.

We stayed for 3 nights and the staff could not have been any more helpful! We needed to move rooms a couple of times because of a window which wouldn't lock and the second time because we decided to stay an extra night. This meant we saw a good selection of the beautiful rooms in the main building. The 2 night deal with dinner allowance and breakfast was such good value. The food was all excellent - the Welcome Club sandwich from the bar menu was a favourite! We would recommend rooms 119 and 120 for a group of 2 couples wanting a break together. The rooms themselves are separate but both share a large living room and decking area on the top floor with stunning views over the golf course. The spa is excellent and well worth making the most of during your stay.

We fell on this hotel by accident after deciding to book a couple of 'days away'. We found a deal for a 2-night stay for the sum total of £179.00 (for two people) this deal also included breakfast, a evening meal and full use of the spa facilities. A complete bargain when considering this is a 4* hotel.
The hotel is set beautiful grounds just five minutes drive from Stratford uopn Avon (we used a taxi - £5 each way). The dining room looks onto the flower garden and the golf course (in the summer it will be especially beautiful) and if you're early enough you can watch the sunrise over the golf course from your breakfast table. Our room (135) was totally outstanding - a huge room with high ceilings, a very large bathroom. The over-all feel of everything was one of outstanding quality- the bedding in particular added to sense of luxury. The room had a king size bed, large TV, desk top Mac, Iphone dock etc etc. The Spa & Gym - were spotlessly clean and importantly: not too crowded. (towels and dressing gowns were provided).

All the staff were friendly, professional and extremely helpful whenever we needed help or had a query.

Overall- a truly outstanding hotel in a wonderful location with first class staff and facilities.

We found it impossible to find fault with any aspect of our stay.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main part of the building that face onto the gardens & golf course.

My mum & I booked an impromptu spa day/eve at Welcombe. We just wanted relaxation in a nice setting and we certainly weren't disappointed! The hotel is simply stunning, with beautiful gardens and golf course. The lounge areas are sumptuous and welcoming with open fire! We were very lucky to have an executive suite overlooking the garden for our room, which was such a treat! The spa itself was superb standard, we are regular spa visitors & this was by far the best we have been to. The dinner & breakfast was of a very high standard and the staff very attentive to our needs. Overall we would recommend this hotel & spa to everyone!

Wow just loved the spa and the beautiful house. Staff were very freindly and helpful. We were only able to stay 24 hours but it felt like a week. Thank you.

Just one suggestion for improvement, being a coffee snob, thought yours could be bettter.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked the spectacular gardens.

Great hotel and spa, relaxation at its best. Hotel restaurant was exceptional and the service was great. The spa treatments and golfing access were a delight. The wonderful staff have even offered to send a bag we left there free of charge. We will definitely be back in April/May! Thanks Menzies

We arrived for a much needed break following a period of hard grinding work and were made to feel instantly at home. Our room was not quite ready, so we were ushered into the oak panelled lounge and offered complimentary drinks while we waited the ten minutes for the room to be finished. The large log fire burned brightly, warm and welcoming...

We were informed as soon as the room was ready and got there to find all of our luggage had been already delivered to the room. The room was large, scrupulously clean and very comfortable.

The evening meal and the breakfast were a joy - great food, great surroundings, great service and that warm ambience you get from quiet, happy conversations. The staff were attentive and the food arrived perfectly cooked, and perfectly timed.

The hotel location and its gardens are amazing...

I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to people wanting that little touch of luxury... not cheap but worth every penny!
