“relaxing break”
Reviewed 24 March 2013

Stayed for 2 nights 21-23 March. Staff at this hotel are so friendly and helpful, really enjoyed our break. Our room was spotless. Stayed on a Dinner and Bed and Breakfast basis, food was absolutely delicious. Used the spa which did not disappoint. The pool is very big for a hotel pool. The only downside I would say it that there are areas of the hotel that are a bit "tired" and probably need a bit of re-decoration, but overall a very enjoyable stay. The weather was cold and so didn't get out and about much although have visited Stratford before. We will certainly go back and I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: We had a first floor room which was ideal, rooms on the ground floor have more people passing by

Lovely looking hotel. Room nice with a fridge which is good to put your own things in. Booked room only but decided to try breakfast on first morning. Found the charge of £17.50 per person way too expensive, obviously catering for foreign tourists!! Staff were extremely friendly however and when we had a problem with our air conditioning ( which we did need as rooms were very hot) it was fixed immediately.
Ideal location, we only had to walk across the bridge and we were in the centre of Stratford.
Did not eat evening meals in hotel as lots of good restaurants in the town but we did check out the menu and the prices were reasonable compared to the breakfast.
A big downside were the bedroom doors which banged all the time people left their rooms. Incapable of shutting them quietly.

we enjoyed a 2 night stay sun/mon and found the hotel to be very comfortable.nice pool facilities and friendly, helpful staff.
breakfast was excellent and the location just over the bridge from town is ideal, just about 10 minutes leisurely stroll.
stratford has many attractions and food and drink value is surprisingly reasonable, considering it is a tourist hotspot.
very enjoyable stay and we will look forward to staying at alveston manor in the future.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights, the staff at breakfast were excellent as was the breakfast, staff went out of there way to help us during our stay, and were extremely polite, the room had a huge bed and was a good size but the bathroom could do with some modernising and some luxury adding, it is in a brillant central location.

Having stayed here once before and having really enjoyed it we booked a spa package deal via Macdonald hotels website and it included dinner and spa treatments etc. Our room was lovely, the reception staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Our expreience of breakfast was very good and the dinners in the evening were super. Food was really excellent and the chef should be complimented. The maitre de lady was just wonderful.
The gardens are so beautifully maintained and well cared for. Creates a good first impression.

However.....the reception staff for the swimming pool were rude, uncaring and unhelpful. I have never been to a spa before where you have to ask and then ask again for a robe and be told " no you can't have one!" I simply couldn't believe it! Then we had to ask for a towel! This wasn't offered , we had to ask! I would never use this spa again unless the management sort out this issue. It completely spoiled the experience.

Room Tip: Worth paying a little more for a better room. The coach house has recently been refurbished.

Five of us stayed from 10th - 12th March and a had good time. It's well situated for walking into Stratford.

Our welcome was warm from the reception staff and as we were early, they stored our cases for us whilst we had lunch. Service was excellent in the bar and there was a wide variety of sandwiches, soup etc.

Our rooms were comfortable and clean, with great heating. The beds were to die for, so good! The bathrooms were warm and clean with lovely towels. Shower gel and body lotion would have made them perfect, although there was shampoo and conditioner provided.

The carpets and upholstery were a little tired looking, but a minor detail. Our rooms looked out onto the car park, and it was quite a walk from reception, but not a real problem.

We did check out the spa but never quite got around to using it, shame on us! It looked great!

Checkout was again faultless and they even split the bill for us to pay individually, nothing was too much trouble. Everything was done promptly and with smiles and humour.

The downsides: considering what we were paying to stay at the hotel, we thought £5 each to park our cars unecessary and would have expected free wifi too!!

BUT all in all an excellent experience.

Do the open-top bus, which not only goes around the town, but out to Anne Hathaway's cottage too. We had great fish and chips at the Garrick pub - some of the best ever.

WE stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in March. The hotel is clean and has lots of character but is a little tired. The carpets in the corridors are a bit worn but our bedroom was clean and had a very comfortable bed. It was also very quiet at night. We didn't have an evening meal as we thought the choice was a bit limited but the breakfast was really good with lots of choice of both hot and cold food. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The price was a bit on the expensive side but then your paying for it's location
It's only 5 minutes to the town and we ate in an Italian restaurant called Sorrento. The food was absolutely superb and the staff were lovely; It's owned by an Italian family so not part of abig chain and is well worth a visit.
