Best Western Grosvenor Hotel
Reviewed 15 February 2012

We booked this trip a few weeks in advance as a base for visiting attractions. We were very impressed overall, friendly reception, booked in and in the room in about 5 Minutes! Service at dinner was very good as was the standard of food. Drinks are a bit pricey but quality is spot on. Our room was very nice, roomy, quiet, warm without being stuffy and execllent bathroom. This Hotel is literally 2 minutes walk into the town centre and about 8 minutes from the RSC Theatre and the river Avon, so a very good place to be. If you do not fancy eating in the Hotel, there are all the usual eateries in town as well as a few individual non-chain restaurants. Overall a spot on place to be. We will be going back1

Hi,
The location is great and our twin room was clean, large and the perfect temperature. The staff were really pleasant and the breakfast was ok. The negatives were that the breakfast was a bit mass produced and there were no toiletries in the bathroom apart from hand and body wash.
As has been mentioned in earlier reviews it cost us £3 to leave our car for a few more hours in the hotel car park (they charge £3 for any length of time after 12) which I think was unnecessary as it was not particularly busy. I do think the hotel should reveiew this policy and find a better solution to lack of parking.
Overall I would stay again but only if I could get the same or a similar competitve rate -£66.50 including breakfast.
Hope this helps
Lucy

Room Tip: The twin room 268 at the back of hte hotel was great.

Friendly reception, efficient check-in. Slightly bemused by entering car registration in a 'Kindle' like tablet. Was this really necessary?

Room was basic, tired and very hot.

Restaurant very busy, seemed rushed at breakfast, dinner was average but after main course we were ignored and never got to see the sweet menu or offered a coffee, left the restaurant after waiting for an eternity.

Bar service was slow even though there were very few people in the bar, over priced drinks!

Good location for a weekend break to the Stratford.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms would be easier as no lift in the hotel

Pleasant stay at this hotel but some of the staff were rather abrupt - feels like a business without the caring touch.

A distinctively average hotel, which hardly made may feel like staying there again, especially as it took me 30 minutes to check out.
The car park is tight and difficult to find a space if you arrive late, the staff are friendly but are stretched in the reception area and the whole place including the rooms need modernising.
The Breakfast was waiter served rather than buffet and did not live up to expectations. There is a bar near reception for residents and passing trade, but I suspect there is not enough encouragement for passers by to drop in.
The location in terms of the center of Stratford is good, but on a main road. It is better to have a room that is not at the front.
I am not sure what the competition for Hotels is like in Stratford, but maybe the location of the Grosvenor maintains trade, but I for one will sadly be looking for somewhere else next time.

Room Tip: Try not to have a room overlooking the busy main road.

Very nice welcome after parking in a very tight car park - we got the last space available. We were attending a private party on a Saturday night. The receptionist was excellent, happy and helpful and made you feel very welcome. The room was OK. Noting more. A little tired I suppose. The radiator was cold and hence the room was cold - it was January after all. On enquiry with reception we were told that the heating would come on at 5.00pm - in January!! Anyway, they siad they would switch it on immediately and it still didn't warm up our radiator - they eventually supplied an electric heater, or the room would have been freezing. I am sure they knew the radiator didn't work all along. Had a private room for dinner with a number of colleagues - that room was cool as well. However, the food was very good as was breakfast the next morning. I would stay here again as long as the price was right and it was summer time.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask if the heating works.

This was our second visit and not disappointed again. Arrived early was able to park the car in Hotel Car park so could start our visiting of the town early. Greeted by receptionist who was really helpful and given room key. Room was spotless, if anything it was too warm. booked a double room and we were really satisfied, bed was very comfortable, the only downside I thought was the bathroom was very clinical, but had everything we needed. Breakfast was excellent both food and service. Will definately be back.
