“Tiny but well equipped - our room.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014 via mobile

Visted for Stratford food festival. Chose to stay here for the location which is excellent.
Car parking is tricky but well priced at £3 day. Bar was small but nicely furnished staff all European but friendly and helpful.
Our room was tiny but furnished to a good standard with nice quality items the curtains were fantastic. Bathroom was clean and bright but the fan constantly on with the light and very noisy.
Bed comfortable tea tray adequate. Asked reception for more milk etc which they bought in seconds.
Breakfast was £13.50 head gave it a miss.

The hotel is a great location for Stratford and the hotel has parking. The staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was nice and the breakfast room was clean and again staff friendly. But the hotel badly needs an update, it's old and tired, and the hall and our hotel room had a musty old smell, best western needs to invest in the hotel, the saving grace of the hotel were the staff the hotel itself needs some TLC.

We stayed at the Grosvenor overnight in March. It is quite a rabbit's warren of a building but I suppose that adds a little to charm. Everything worked and our stay was comfortable enough. We thought that the breakfast just about rated OK but not imaginative. One thing that annoyed us was that they charge £3 for unsecured car parking. This is something which I cannot recall having been asked to pay ever before. When we challenged this at the desk the front of house receptionist was quite huffy and needed a course in customer diplomacy. Needless to say this cuts their points and we will not be staying there again.

Your comments are appreciated, I am sorry that you felt that our receptionist was not as customer friendly as she maybe should have been, I will be addressing this. We feel that our car parking charge of just £3.00 is very reasonable as you can leave your car not only whilst you are staying in the hotel but once you have checked out you can leave the car with us until you leave Stratford. Kind Regards

The hotel is situated really well for town which is a 5 minute walk. Lovely canal walk if you turn right out of the hotel then right at the bridge. Hotel very busy on the days we stayed and breakfast was really busy. The only thing that spoiled it was the stifling heat in the hotel, even in a cool May it was so hot. Windows wide open didn't help and affected sleep.

We stayed for 4 nightswhilst visiting Stratford, the hotel is adwally situated....only a few minutes walk to the town. The hotel is clean and we had a very comfortable bed. The breakfasts were delicious and there was lots of choice. The staff without exception were friendly and efficient. The only downside ....our room was quite small and the windows hardly opened and unfortunately we looked over a roof and directly onto another building. We are however looking forward to returning, and would have no hesitation in recommending the Grosvenor to friends .

The Best Western hotels advertise themselves as hotels with personality. The Grosvenor’s personality is a bit like a favourite aunty – a retired teacher perhaps - whose house is comfy rather than stylish. The staff are friendly, the rooms have what you need, including a full-length mirror, something I particularly like, there are plenty of proper hangers in the wardrobe and the bed is comfortable. We went on a weekend offer price so we had one of the smaller rooms where there’s nowhere other than the bed to sit on. Also it’s a pity the shower has a curtain which clung damply to me once the water flowed and had to be peeled off, rather than a screen.

There are comfortable sitting areas in the bar. Breakfast was the standard full English or buffet and the coffee was good. We didn’t have dinner so can’t comment, but we did have a perfectly good prawn sandwich from the late-night room service.

It’s well situated about five minutes from the theatre, has parking available and a welcoming staff. Beware though if you have mobility problems because there’s no lift. We found it a good place to spend a couple of nights for a theatre weekend and good value too. We’ll probably go back.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments, they are all greatly appreciated. We would love to install a lift, but due to the building being Grade 2 listed we are unable to. Kindest Regards

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting Stratford-upon-Avon. Excellent location within a few minutes of the town, river and theatres. Nice clean, comfortable beds, tea and coffee making facilities available in all rooms. Fluffy white towels in the bathroom. No lifts but not an issue. Did not eat in the hotel but bar service was good. Would recommend as a clean, comfortable handy place to stay.
