Good hotel in excellent location. Public areas are clean spacious and fitting 4 star accommodation. Unfortunately it appears that cost cutting measures are in place in the guest areas. The showers have little or no power, the towels were heavily stained and although shampoo was provided there was no conditioner. Tea tray did not have biscuits. I'm sorry but i have stayed in 2 star which provide these at a£30 a night let alone £100 plus. On the good side excellent breakfast and friendly helpful staff; again though £5 a night to park! Little things that giggle and spoil an otherwise enjoyable stay.

We stayed here for a couple of nights to go to the theatre and to visit relatives nearby. We chose it because of the location and the plentiful car parking, and got a good price of £80 per night for a double room and breakfast by booking 3 weeks in advance through the Holiday Inn website.

The nicest thing about the hotel is the riverside garden and terrace, very pleasant to sit in with a glass of wine if the weather is good. The restaurant staff at breakfast time were very friendly, welcoming and helpful, and the breakfast itself was decent although exorbitantly priced at £14.95 if you were paying for it separately.

Our room was clean and reasonably comfortable although distinctly tired, and both the decor and the furnishings really needed refreshing. We wondered if you would get a better room if you were on a different rate. There was the usual gripe for hotels of this type, of very expensive internet access which we therefore did not use.

We felt we got what we paid for, and everything worked efficiently. We probably would stay there again if we got a decent rate, but it's not a hotel to be enthusiastic about.

This hotel is very central, walking distance from the high street, with beautiful chops and little winding streets. You can also walk to the Swan Theatre and the Courtyard Theatre and many other sites related to Shakespeare. The boats and park are across the road so you donot need a car once you are here.
The hotel staff are, on the whole very friendly and helpful, although I was a bit disappointed that the receptionist we asked did not know where the Courtyard Theatre was and did not offer to find out.
The restaurant was very good. As Muslims, we were delighted to find that some of the meat served was halal so we could enjoy the carvery. The chef was so obliging and catered to the needs of our party, including one rather particular member of our family.
The pool is rather small but the children enjoyed it.
The best part of the day was sitting outside on the fabulously comfy garden furniture of an evening, overlooking the river and enjoying the views and a drink.

we stayed there for one night only and on the way we got stuck on the motorway for over 3 hours due to a terrible accident which meant that we were late checking in. when we arrived were told by the reception staff that children over 15 were allowed in the pool after 7pm but on going to the pool we were informed that they had to be 16. Although there was nobody in the pool or in the gym area they were not allowed to go in even with an adult supervising them. The manager of the hotel was very reluctant to give us the address or contact details for the head office to complain about this until we said we would put our complaint on line when miraculously he "found" them. They allowed us a late check out so that we could use the facilities the next day but we had already been told that we could use them all day after checking out anyway.
The next morning we went to the pool but I slipped on the steps going into the pool which did not have any non slip tiles on them and were very slimy. I severely bruised my hip and leg and could barely walk all day which spoilt the one day we had in Stratford. The pool attendant told me to get some ice from the restaurant and rest my leg all day which wasnt really helpful as we only had the one day there.

The staff were very nice and the hotel was in a good location but our room overlooked a car park and was quite a distance from the main doors.

We also had a meal in the restaurant which was disgusting, I had ordered a BLT which was inedible as the bacon was like plastic which at £11 i did not think was acceptable. All in all i was very disappointed with our stay there and wouldnt be going back there again.

First, it's in a great location, with a lovely riverside garden terrace, and you can pick up a short boat cruise right outside the hotel, while Straford's main riverside promenade is less than 5 mins walk.

Second, the public areas of the hotel are nice, including the terrace garden already mentioned.

We booked DBB which at £95 for a Sunday night which was a good deal. However, we were disappointed to be offered only a buffet dinner (the quality and choice was OK, but a salad bar, overcooked carvery-style roast beef and hard sun-lamped carrots isn't quite what we'd had in mind). Breakfast was similarly buffet-style average, and we had a battle to order and actually receive our poached eggs. Shame, because it's a nice garden-aspect spacious restaurant which they could really do something with (both in terms of menu and service) if they tried. They definitely should make clear it's a buffet before you book it.

As for the rooms, the beds were comfortable but everything was dated and a bit tired and the rooms and corridors had a distinct feel of a 1980s correctional institution about them, with a trail of carpet stains to follow, and the lifts seemed to be continually on the blink.

The spa and pool area was also a bit dated and far from luxurious but functional and clean.

Thank you for leaving feedback on your recent stay with Holiday Inn Stratford.

I am pleased to read that you found us to be good value for money and I hope that you will return to us in the near future. Our location is amazing; we often receive compliments about it, I’m pleased you thought so highly of it. I apologise if you were not informed about our Riverside Restaurant Carvery before your visit.

With regards to your comment about the lifts, these have now been serviced and are now in full working order.

Hotel staff were friendly and made the stay enjoyable. Only let down was the room. It was dated and the bed was too big for the room which meant little space for me and my 3 year old son. Great area outdoors for my little one to play and was next to the river. They have a great play area for the children, however it is out of view and there are no chairs nearby for you to relax whilst your children play. Food was very good and a great menu for the kids. We didn't have breakfast so cannot comment. We were looking forward to using the pool but due to an incident in the morning the pool was closed for 24 hours for cleaning.

I would return but would ask for a better room as judging by the pictures they certainly have better.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is in the centre of the hotel, not on the end such as 3079.

Dear CarlaBarrett,

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback on your recent stay with us.

I am pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us though your room appeared to be too small for yours and your son’s needs.

Our play area is very popular amongst the guests children as it gives them a chance to get outside and have fun like children should. Thank you for your comments about needing seats, we will look into that.

I hope you stay with us again soon.

Very nicely located, right next to the Stratford-Upon-Avon river, the hotel is 7 minutes walk from Shakespeare's house.

The hotel has good parking space and good rooms. The service is average.
The hotel mainly aims at people checking in for a day and can be very un-entertaining for people wanting to stay on for an extended stay basis. The TV hardly shows any entertaining channel, and there's almost no activity in the neighbourhood that can keep you engaged.

Dear Sanjay_GT,

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback on your recent stay with our hotel.

I am pleased that you enjoyed our hotel and the location of our hotel, it is in a beautiful area.

Typically Stratford has a very relaxed atmosphere, but if you are seeking entertainment we have a variety of leaflets in the hotel reception containing information on attractions nearby.

As stated in previous responses, the televisions in all the rooms will soon be updated with flat screens that include Freeview.

I hope you return to our hotel in the near future.
