“Stay somewhere else”

During a bus tour, I stayed at this Holiday Inn. I wish the tour had picked a different hotel because this one was disappointing. The beds were awful, one of the worst nights sleep I had in Britain. The decor was shabby, and the staff acted like going home was the only thought on their mind. Our room was so far away from the elevator that we could barely believe it. Do yourself a favor, and stay at another hotel.

Staff were pleasant. Decor was tired and in need for refurbishment. Great position in Stratford. Rooms were ok but our one was noisy with a load of heating or coolling machinery making a noise every few minutes. Another hotel whose curtains don't fit and let too much light in.
Breakfast was good. Plenty of choice and (all to rarely) good coffee.

Thank you for your feedback. Along with the launch of the New Holiday Inn Brand we have completed some soft refurbishment to our bedrooms and public areas. Linked to our excellent breakfast and coffee we are confident you would enjoy a return stay with us.

We have just returned from Stratford for a after a few days break as our holiday to Egypt was cancelled due to the volcano and we wanted a stress free break. The hotel is situated minutes from the town and river. Our room was fine, with a comfy bed and very clean. The staff were polite and helpful and when we told them we were not happy with the first room they had given us as the view was over a flat roof, we were moved to a better room with a view of the lock, river and theatre. We paid for DBB for two nights but the food was a huge disappointment. A rather dried up carvery every night and a dried up breakfast. I complained about the evening meal the next day and was told we could eat in the bar, but I wanted a proper evening meal. In the end we went to a lovely restaurant called Encore which was very close to the hotel. I feel very aggrieved that we had to pay twice for an evening meal. We have stayed at Holiday Inns before, infact we are Priority Club members, but have never had such bad food. I would recommend this hotel, as long was you dont eat there.

We (two adults and 10 yrs old) have just come back from the weekend in Stratford area. We stayed two nights in the family room after booking with Superbreak (mystery hotel). Room’s size was good, large bathroom, coffee facilities (coffee, tea, hot chocolate and 3 milks each, not like in some other places... 1?!). I used gym (quite well equipped), swimming pool (smallish, but good enough for a few lengths), sauna and steam room. I didn’t use jacuzzi as the water was not v appealing after it stopped working.
Breakfast was good with adequate selection of serials, fresh fruits, hot food and pasties. Only toast bread was available, although it would be nice to have some fresh buns or rolls. However there was a proper coffee/cappuccino/latte from the help- yourself machine which was much appreciated.
Hotel is located by the river, so we sat after breakfast with a coffee and watched swans and ducks. There is also boat there so you can get a short trip. Centre of town is just over the street; you can have a great walk by the river, rent a boat or even rent a deck chair (1.50 for a day) and enjoy the sunshine.
A few nice eateries can be easily found incl. local food, Indian, Chinese, Italian etc. as well as a few shops including M&S, Sainsbury and all other local and high street shops.
We went to Cadbury Factory – 20 min drive – good, but don’t get too excited.
Overall we had great time and although there were a few nice spa hotels on the way we would probably come back to Holiday Inn due to its location.

Good sized clean room but odd arrangement for a family room (L shape with only 1 single around the corner-would have been better with 2 there/bunks to give adults some privacy from younger children in the evenings). Bathroom was ok-poor shower and sink too high for the children to reach-could have been solved with a child's stool.
Breakfast good but no soap in the public toilets on 2 consecutive days-despite being informed both days!!! Overall-ok value for money-cleanliness was good but it felt like an institution rather than family friendly.
Could have done with free wi-fi & basic freeview channels-even the pay per view films weren't varied or that family friendly!

Despite the building looking like some sort of remand centre, the hotel inside was great. Very clean, comfy bed in a spacious room. Used the swimming pool with the kids and the breakfast set us up for the day a treat. Good location close to town centre.

The Holiday Inn is an unattractive corporate hotel close to the centre of Stratford.
It is clean, the staff are polite, the riverside position is good (particularly in the summer), the rooms are OK and the buffet breakfast contains just about anything you could want.
Like most hotels of this kind, it is bland and soul-less; like being in a business convention.
It is also quite pricey for what you get, but having tried many hotels & guest houses in this area, none are cheap, many barely adequate and often some way from the centre of town.
If you are looking for somewhere within 5 minutes flat walk of the RSC, to sleep and have breakfast - this will fit the bill adequately. But it's hard to enthuse.
