The Stratford, A QHotel
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 25 June 2011

Having been given tickets to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre we looked for a good deal at hotels in Stratford. Superbreak came up with the best deal, especially as there was a car park at this hotel and it is within walking distance to the theatre. The hotel was comfortable and quiet overlooking the rear car park. The air conditioning worked almost too well and the shower over the bath was good with no fluctuation in temperature. There was a safe, ironing board and fridge in the wardrobe. Breakfast was good with plenty of variety (my husband particularly liked the porridge). My only criticism would be that on checking out we were charged £10 for the car park which was never mentioned either at Superbreak or when we checked in.

Delighted you enjoyed your stay at The Stratford. It is great to have the theatre now re-opened. We have great deals direct should you be visiting again. Thank you for your feedback with regards to the car park, I apologise for any inconvenience caused.

We stayed at The Stratford for a friends wedding and we had a fantastic time. Our room was huge and had all the amenities we needed, we were a little concverned it would be noisy as we were right above reception and just opposite the lifts, but didn't hear a peep! I can't fault our stay other than the hotel bar prices for drinks which were a little steep, but most hotels have similar prices these days.

The wedding itself was brilliant and everyone thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it, buffet was delicious!!

Would definitely stay there again.

We stayed here from 16th to 19th June on Q Hotels' Summer Break. We got an excellent rate of £75.00 per night, b&b. My husband had business meetings nearby on 17th June so we decided to make a weekend of it. The last time we stayed in Stratford was in January when we chose one of the other (more famous) 4 star hotels and it was just awful - I note from TripAdvisor that we are not alone in saying so. The Stratford was like another world. We were greeted at reception by Phillip who could not have been more helpful. I'd already e-mailed the hotel to say that as we're tall we didn't want a room with sloping ceilings as we'd read reviews of lack of headroom. No problem - we'd been allocated a room on the first floor.

The reception, like the rest of the hotel, is immaculate and the hotel itself is in a great location. Nice and quiet, yet an easy 5 minute stroll to the centre of Stratford.

Our room (no. 206) was a bit small but immaculate, spotlessly clean and luxuriously equipped. Everything was top quality and everything worked. The bed was beautifully comfortable and the bedding itself sparkling white and immaculate. Incredible shower with endless hot water and snowy white towels.

My daughter, who lives in Oxfordshire where she is studying at uni, came over to see us on Thursday evening. No problem in respect of parking for her (even though the hotel was extremely busy). Phillip even arranged it so that she didn't have to pay to park. We decided to eat in Quills restaurant and it was a good decision. The menu was varied and tempting (and remarkably reasonably priced) and the service was pleasant and attentive without being intrusive. We went through three courses and the food was fab - fresh, well prepared and beautifully presented/served. Good wine list and, again, reasonably priced.

Breakfast is extremely well organised. We were asked where we would like to sit, seated and the "greeter" also took our order for tea/coffee so there wasn't the familiar wait at the table before someone asked. The breakfast buffet itself was extremely varied, the food was fresh and of very good quality. The staff also work very hard to ensure that dirty dishes, etc are cleared in record time.

Our room was cleaned early and to an extremely high standard. We were very impressed that, despite providing premium toiletries (Pecksniffs), they were replaced completely every day. No half-empty bottles or half-used bars of soap.

We ate in the bar quite late on Friday evening - pizza and sandwiches. Again, great service and top quality. Try the chips by the way - they are real chips and just delicious.

All in all it was a great weekend and we were extremely sorry to leave on Sunday - could have done with a few more days. The management were always in evidence and clearly work very hard to provide guests with a faultless service. They also seem to have managed to do something that's notoriously difficult - they have gathered together a staff that is enthusiastic, pleasant, efficient and clearly happy in their work.

We will certainly return to The Stratford and will recommend it to anyone with confidence. Well done and please don't change a thing.

This was a very pleasant one night stay. Room was a good size, the bed was really comfortable, nice clean and modern bathroom. Staff were friendly and accommodating though our needs were few! The only problem we encountered was that we were staying on a Sunday night and whoever was in the next room was up at 6am and their shower backed on to our bedroom and it was as if it was in our room, it was so noisy. I think we were in room 111. One other thing is having to pay for parking, I have stayed at the Macdonald Alveston Hall which is of an equal standard, rating and price but no charge for parking.

Booked for one night for a theatre visit. Reception was quick and efficient, ordering a taxi for us for the theatre. Our room was excellent with plenty of storage, comfortable bed and great bathroom. We booked an early pre-threatre dinner which was good quality and well cooked and had our dessert after the theatre.
The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful, especially when we were blocked in by another vehicle on the day of our departure. The staff can't do enough to help
We will certainly be back.

Hotel lovely and comfortable, food excellent, service second to none. Spoilt by one member of staff, William Smith. He is not customer friendly and is actually rude, obnoxious and power crazy. He humiliated Lucas Aborowicz in front of many guests and made me uncomfortable, but for him I would return and recommend this hotel.

Lucas and Audrey Varnier are a credit to your hotel, they are lovely friendly and helpful people, they couldn't do enough to help and went over and above to make sure we were satisfied with the service they provided, they also joined in our little self-made games and had a good laugh with all the guests whilst still maintaining their professionalism. William decided to put in an appearance and it all stopped, the atmosphere and good spirits were well and truly lost which is what he so obviously set out to do. I personally feel he is threatened by Lucas and his ability to get on with guests, and so he should be. He would be much more suited to a gentleman's club where everything is quiet and guests are not allowed to have a good time.

we stayed here for a wedding over the Whitsun bank holiday and I mustsay it is the perfect venue. The staff are helpful and the wedding was beautifully planned. My only criticism would be that the rooms were not all ready in time for us to get changed. The wedding was at 1pm and the last room was released at 3pm. It did add to the fun on the day though as we all had to 'bunk up' together to get ready. The food was amazing and the staff kindly reset the room for breakfast the next day so that we could all eat together away from the main restaurant. The rooms were clean and had everything you could want in them including wonderful showers and we were all accomodated in the same part of the hotel which was useful. If you are planning a wedding in stratford this is a hotel well worth considering.
