Thank you for your review and kind comments. I hope we are able to welcome you back in the future.
Myself and my husband enjoyed a one night stay, this being our second visit to the hotel and I can say that from the last visit eighteen months ago the hotel is still as fabulous as the first time we stayed. I originally chose the hotel as I liked the look of the rooms and its proximity to town. The rooms are modern and well decorated. We had a double on our first visit but recently stayed in a deluxe double which was lovely. Staff are very pleasant and our full english breakfast was very enjoyable. If you are to have a short break in Stratford I would highly recommend this hotel, its a short walking distance to all shops/restaurants and I know if I visit Stratford again, this will be the hotel I book!
I am delighted to read that you enjoyed your return stay as much as the first. Thank you for a fantastic review.
The Q Hotel Stratford is very handy for the railway station (and the hospital but I hope you won't need that!) and about ten minutes walk from the theatres - five to the town centre. A bland modern building set back from busy roads but with the advantages of purpose built efficiency and double glazing.
We were allowed to check in early which was very welcome. Front desk service was always polite and friendly though we often saw queues waiting to check out in the mornings so perhaps a few more bodies need to be on duty then.
Our room (3rd floor twin) was pleasant and spotlessly clean with comfortable beds. Good bathroom with shower/bath. Someone had got a bit over-excited about design and put vast hanging lamps over the beds which look trendy but make it impossible for one person to read while the other sleeps.
Breakfast was a buffet of cereals, really fresh fruit etc, cold meat and cheese and cooked breakfast on hot dishes. This seemed a bit tired, especially the scrambled eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms - all bland and watery. Good breads and pastries available.
Good service with just the right level of attention.
My one big gripe in this hotel is the air-conditioning. I presume this has been installed to reassure foreign tourists. But Stratford upon Avon is a mild place, not very warm in summer and not very cold in winter. It does not need air-con. But not only do you have it, you can't get rid of it. I switched it off over and over again but it kept kicking back in. I opened the windows which had warning labels saying this would turn off the air-con - but no, it tried to moderate the entire world temperature. So all night long the otherwise quiet room had the soundtrack of a heathrow airport hotel as the air con constantly whirred up to speed and then clicked off again.
What a pity. If not for this I would come back.
I am disappointed to read that the air-conditioning disturbed your stay, this is seen to be an advantage in most cases that we have air conditioning, however I do appreciate your comments and it should have been capable of being turned off completely and we are currently investigating this. I am pleased the rest of your stay was enjoyable.
I took my mother for an overnight stay as a early Mothers day treat, however, we enjoyed our stay so much we decided to extend our stay for another night. The first thing that struck me was how friendly all the staff were. They are an absolute credit to the hotel and it's owners. The room we were allocated was 233, a lovely decorated room with a contempary bathroom and both were spotlessly clean, thanks to the hard working cleaning staff. We had meals in the hotel restaurant both nights and it was faultless, not to mention delicious. This hotel is by far one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in (and I've stayed in alot). Thanks to all the staff for making our stay such a pleasure. Rest assured we will be back soon.
Thank you for a fantastic review, I am delighted that the team made your stay so special. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.
Easy to find & a short walk into the town centre. Check in was ok, it was a bit annoying that every time the phone rang at reception that that took priority so it did take a while to get up to the room. We were also surprised that we had to pay to park as this had not been mentioned when booking.
We were initially given room 319 but asked to swap as it was very small due to the sloping ceiling by the window making it feel like you were in the attic. We moved to 216 which was much better though it did still feel a little cramped & small. The light in the bathroom flickered so we asked for that to be fixed & it was promptly done.
Breakfast was included & it was of a high standard, plenty of choice & all tasted great!
Staff were all friendly & polite, the hotel was well presented & we really liked the decor. Overall we had a great stay, free car parking would have made it even better!!
Thank you for your review and comments, I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay at The Stratford.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here over 3 nights in February, having taken advantage of the 40% sale prices. We decided to pay an extra £20 per night for the executive room which was large, well lit, and extremely comfortable. The fridge contained fresh milk, and a small bottle of white wine and a jar of japanese rice crackers were provided each day.
The breakfast room was very busy whilst we were there but we were seated and served promptly.
A huge benefit was location - a 10 -15minute stroll to the theatre which we were visiting on each of the 3 nights. We will definitely stay here again when back to see more at the RSC.
I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay at The Stratford. We have launched our own theatre breaks directly for July and August 2012. Information is on the web site should you be interested in booked inclusive packages on your next visit.
