“stay over valentines weekend”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 February 2013

We have stayed at this hotel a couple of years ago we chose this hotel for location and clean stylish rooms.I was celebrating my birthday on the Saturday and was pleased to have a card an some wine in the room from the hotel nice touch!rooms are nice and clean and have everything you would need.breakfast on the Sunday morning was a bit manic but still a great choice of food.Monday morning was a totally different experience more relaxed with a great guy in the restaurant taking time out to have a chat and making sure everything is ok
The only negative for me was the untidy outside areas. The front garden has got great potential but is littered with rubbish empty bottles etc I'm sure that someone could go round and pick this up? cigarettes butts litter the front and back door areas which is not great as a first impression also the stone flower urns in the garden are overflowing with butts not attractive.could do with some flowers in baskets to cheer the areas up.
Apart from this a very good stay!

Thank you for your feedback. I am disappointed the welcome was untidy and completely agree about the first impressions. The team certainly do take care of this and we do hope that the bins provided may be used. I will be monitoring this as it would appear more support in this area through the weekend may be required. I am pleased you enjoyed breakfast despite the busier atmosphere on the Sunday.

Really enjoyed our stay at The Stratford . Not ten minutes walk from the river and theatres. Breakfast delicious and staff very welcoming. Room more than adequate, very comfortable bed, much appreciated bottled water in the room. Bathroom a bit chilly. Excellent shower. Got a good deal for two nights stay. Easy drive to NEC and so much better to stay here than close to the NEC. Would definitely return next time we go to the theatre and really do recommend.

Room Tip: We had one overlooking car park........ absolutely fine.

Perfect location from the NEC but far enough to be away from the busy atmosphere when a large show is on. I am delighted you enjoyed your stay with us.

Stayed here for 2 nights over Valentines weekend.
Room 326 had sloping roofs but was a good size and well decorated.
Reception staff were excellent as were the facilities.
Only 2 slight downers otherwise it would have got 5 out of 5.
Parking is an extra £5 per night - come on, if that was hidden in the room cost I would not have a problem; but to ask for an extra £5 when the car park has ticket access and egress that only allows hotel guests, why would you charge that as extra.

On the first morning (friday) the breakfast was excellent quality, the staff brilliant; my girlfriend even commented that in all the places we had stayed this was the best breakfast we had ever had (bar the 1 in Rome - which was 5 star)
But the breakfast on the saturday morning was really poor, as was the service, it was almost as if they were from different hotels; shell in my egg, hair in the mushrooms, had to ask for milk to go with my coffee, my girlfriend had to ask for clean hot water 3 times.

That was a real pity because the hotel was excellent, the staff up until that point were brilliant and as stated the friday morning breakfast was 5 star.

Location - very good, an easy 5 minutes walk into Stratford; about 10 to the theatre

Decor very nice. staff very professional and friendly.

Room very well decorated and wanted for nothing.

Would we go back again - yes definatley, but hopefully the saturday morning breakfast scrum will have been sorted by then.

Thank you for your feedback, I am disappointed the breakfast experience was different on both days of your stay, please be assured this will be investigated and any issues identified will be resolved. With regards to the car parking charge we do apply a small charge per night which is competitive in the market ensuring all of our guest are able to park on site. Thank you for your lovely comments about the team and your bedroom.

Stayed over night with my 12 year old daughter. Had no problems at all check in very professional and helpful. Room was of a very high standard. Evening meal was superb and breakfast was a buffet service but fresh and good quality. Great central location. Would certainly return.

After a shaky first visit I was invited back to this hotel and noticed a marked improvement. The Stratford is a very nice hotel and worth its 4 stars. However, it is really more suited as a business/conference hotel, than a romantic or luxurious getaway. That said, do not be deterred as it's probably the best hotel in Stratford and location s brilliant for walking everywhere. The QStar rooms are by far the best available in the hotel and room 221 was very large and comfortable, although the bathroom is small and the TV even at 32" could do with being larger for viewing in bed, as the room is so long I almost needed binoculars to watch it. Staff at the hotel are very pleasant, but the restaurant lacks a little finesse and although food is acceptable it is nothing special and there is plenty of room for improvement.

Room Tip: Opt for a QStar Room
