“Perfect Weekend Stay”
Reviewed 4 November 2013

We found this hotel by Expedia and we can't fault it. It is near the centre of town and the room that we had which was a Superior Double and it was fab ! it has a huge bed, modern bathroom, a separate seating area and good storage.

We ate in the bar one night and the food was lovely, the breakfast was excellent and well thought out - if you don't fancy self service they will get it it for you !

We were down to go to the theatre and we would go to the Stratford again. on our Sat nav it was called the Victoria (think there has been a name change)

fabulous room, lovely decor and very spacious.
facilities were excellent - tea/coffee, nice toiletries, fridge, water, loved the heated bathroom mirror! Requested interconnecting rooms which we were given.

Staff were very professional and deserve to be praised - male receptionist and the maitre d' at breakfast were both excellent!!

10 minute walk into town - but easy to get a cab in the evening.

Minor complaints:
£5 to park car
Hit head on large lamps over bed (although they were rather nice!)
Breakfast was good - but not exceptional - bread thin, danish pastry was a little tough, scrambled egg bit soggy
view from room was over a flat roof and buildings but didn't expect rolling hills

However......this is a very impressive hotel - would definitely use Qhotels again!

Thanks for the feedback and review. Great deals on QHotels.co.uk, definitely worth joining the Breakaway club for more offers.

Our experience doesn't come anywhere near the previously excellent reviews. Check in was impersonal with no hint of a welcome or even 'please', 'thank-you', 'enjoy your stay'. When asked what to do with the paring ticket it was taken from me with a comment of 'I'll throw that in the bin for you and give you another when you go'. No explanation of the hotel's services or facilities was offered. The room (318) was small with stains on the carpet, scuff marks on the furniture and walls, and a sink that didn't drain properly. We were booked for two nights and decided instead to check out the next day. On returning in the evening we informed the night porters giving our room number, this message was not passed on. On going down for breakfast the following morning we were surprised to see the lobby full of guests sitting around and even over-spilling into the bar area. This was 9.20 am and it turned out that all of these people were waiting for a table in the dining room. A couple in front of us at the desk were complaining about the quality of their room and having to wait around for breakfast a second day running. The receptionist just offered them a refund of the breakfast charge and said she couldn't guarantee that things wouldn't be the same the following morning. We told the receptionist that we were checking out early because we weren't satisfied with either the service or the room. She asked for the room number and made a point of asking if we were both in the same room this seemed to be an issue with us both being male. No apology was offered and we were simply given a refund on breakfast as had the couple in front of us. Today an e-mail arrived directing us to Tripadvisor asking for a review of our stay. Well here it is. Our advice is don't believe the hype and hope that your face fits.

I am sincerely sorry that your stay was not as would have been expected and that genuine customer care was not felt. This is certainly not our usual standard of service delivery. Please be assured that appropriate action will be taken once a full investigation has been completed. Please feel free to contact me directly should you wish to discuss this further.

Kind regards

Just had a one night stay, absolutely fabulous, great hotel great location and great staff. They are all friendly and helpful and really seem to enjoy their jobs, how refreshing.

Would definitely stay there again. Have booked a q hotel in Berlin for a short break in November and really looking forward to it now I have seen q hotel standards.

Highly recommend.

We had a lovely nights stay. We upgraded to the exec room? which was lovely and big and had a large sofa. We didn't get a chance to use the pool etc. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly, they recommended a lovely restaurant in town. Breakfast was nice but they really need to do something about the squash around the buffet area, it is just too small for the number of people using it. Overall though it was a great hotel and very close to the Shakespeare Trust properties. We would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: It is definitely worth upgrading, the room is about double the size of the ordinary rooms.
