“Fantastic Hotel , Excellent service...”
Reviewed 26 November 2009

We stayed on a 2 night dinner on first night B&B rate. We paid extra for the deluxe room and this was definately well worth it. The hotel is very modern and rooms are better than the pictures show. We had a huge comfortable bed with lots of plump cushions and pillows, sofa and 2 chairs plasma tv and fridge. There was fresh coffee and milk in the fridge not just the standard UHT stuff and still and sparkling bottled water. The bed room and bathroom was spotless with a real quality feel to it. All bathroom fittings were modern but you didn't need a degree to work them as someone else reported. They were just modern and very stylish, as is everything about this hotel. we were very impressed. The hotel is just across the road from the town which is a real advantage with free car parking.
The staff at this hotel are exceptional and really do go out of there way to be helpful and friendly. We ordered room service which arrived in 5 minutes a world record for room service i think... The cleaner cleaned the room to a very high standard and then her superviser came to check , i am not sure if this was the norm but hey we were impressed!
We had dinner on the first night in the hotel which i must say again was of a high standard, lots of choice meals very tasty unlike usual hotel food and very well presented.
The Only down side was that the restaurant lacked atmosphere there was no music and it was very quiet. we did mention it to the reception as they had simply asked did we enjoy our meal. They said they would pass our comments on to the restaurant, and sure enough the night after there was music and it seemed to be better.
Breakfast was the usual hotel breakfast although i have to say there was no queues, staff were attentive bringing tea coffee orders over quickly. i ordered poached eggs one day and eggs benidict the second day both presented well and prepared quickly. Hubby had the usual cooked breakfast ,staff again couldn't do enough and tables were cleared very quickly, and dining area was clear of clutter and dirty dishes.
All in all i thought this hotel was excellent, i would definately stay again and have already reccommended to friends.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at The Stratford Hotel.

I would like to thank you for highlighting the eforts of my team and I can assure you that they will be rewarded for their efforts.

I was delighted to read that you enjoyed your say at the hotel, I was pleased that the lack of music from Quills Restaurant was corrected on your second night, it should be the norm that there is appropriate background music and I apologise that this did not allow for a nice atmosphere on your first dining experience.

I look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the very near future.

We booked this hotel as a special treat for our extended family and to celebrate a 20th wedding anniversary. We felt very let down. Service was shocking. I had a wallet stolen whle using the pool in the sister hotel- key suspects were the staff and one of their acquantancies. Checkout was embarassing- reception were insistent we ay an extra on pound 32 for an unexplained item. As my wallet had been stolen I had to empty the last coin out of my pockets to pay. Given I had paid thousands of pounds for the weekend and this amount was dwarfed by the tips we had given this was a real lowpoint. We had been offered complimentary meal vouchers for two of the party who could not make the first night. This has never been delivered. Wake up calls were not provided as promised. I could go on....

We stayed in a twin room from Wednesday 7 to Friday 9 October 2009. We chose the hotel as my husband was temporarily working in Stratford and I went to join him for a couple of days. The hotel is in a great location. It is next to the train station and is an easy five minute walk into the town centre. The hotel is in its own grounds so although in a built up area it’s peaceful and there is free car parking on site.
The hotel is modern with contemporary decor with everything at a high standard. Our twin room was delightful. It was very comfortable, extremely clean and very spacious (although we had just a standard room). It was very nicely decorated with very comfortable beds and two arm chairs. There was an en-suit bathroom with shower over bath.
The staff were very friendly and polite. The service was excellent throughout the stay. We only ate breakfast here. It is a self service buffet with a very good selection of hotel and cold foods.
I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again and would highly recommend to others as it is a great hotel in a very convenient location.

Stayed for one night only on a special package that included Sunday lunch, bed and breakfast - booked direct with the hotels own web-site. Hotel rooms are beautiful, well maintained and very clean. Enjoyed a fabulous 5 course lunch incl. sorbet & coffee which was part of our package but only cost around £17 per person which was great value for money. The only downside was another guest near to us that like the sound of her own complaining voice far too much and proceeded to be very rude to the staff until she got her drinks FOC - bet she wished she'd had a bottle not just a glass of wine now! Anyway, all-in-all a nice hotel, about 10 minutes from everything and a good selection of food on offer for both lunch and breakfast.

we came to the startford as we were celebrating our first wedding anniversary, my birthday and our pregnancy- lots to celebrate. Whilst the room we were initally given was nice, it was a bit small and didnt really make me feel 'special'. we asked if there was anything else and the manager did indeed accomodate us and we were upgraded to a much larger room. the room itself was nice, nicely decorated, tea and coffee making facilities, nice bathroom. the bed however, was far from nice, it was massive, i give it that but it was unbelievably hard and uncomfortable. We both put up with it the first night - although neither of us got much sleep due to feeling like we were sleeping on the pavement, however, i just couldnt tolerate it the second. we asked reception what they could do about it and they said that they would put a few extra douvets on the bed for us - which they did and it was ok. the hotel didnt seem to have free wi fi which was a bit annoying and it only had 5 TV channels - not what you would expect from a 4* hotel. Overall, the hotel was ok but nothing out of this world.
