We stay here often and absolutely love it. Location is great, rooms are lovely. All staff very friendly and helpful especially bar staff that worked all day on sat 4th Jan. Amazing meal in the restaurant, loved the lemon tart dessert!! Breakfast good. Service could of been better with dinner, inexperienced staff but will still stay again

A very nice quiet hotel, certainly at this time of year, after the Christmas rush - good location away from traffic noise. There is a Park and Ride nearby which we didn't need to use, but might prove useful for getting into Stratford at busy times of year. The foyer was spacious and welcoming, with a prettily decorated Christmas tree; easy, friendly checking-in procedure, with room to park your car at the hotel entrance for off-loading, and plenty of parking spaces. Comfortable and clean bedrooms, uncomplicated heating controls, windows easily opened for fresh air - there seemed to be an air-conditioning unit in the corner for the summer. (No mini-bar though, which might be very useful for cold drinks in hot weather). Good lighting options in bedroom and bathroom, and quiet air extraction - not always the case! Breakfasts excellent, freshly made items, good service. The Terrace Bar was restful; exemplary service by the friendly bar staff, who surprisingly knew one's surname - a nice customer-care touch! However, we would replace any plastic chairs with more of the fabric ones! The overall relaxed ambience of the hotel suited us very well. The gym had a good range of equipment, and there was no need to book a slot as in some hotels - we didn't use the pool. We will definitely use this hotel again.

Dear yfenni,
Thank you for your detailed review of the hotel and the local area. Sounds like you made the most of your stay! I am very glad to hear that the rooms were clean and the lighting suited your needs. A mini bar is available in our Q Star rooms and we are happy to put fridges in the rooms if requested. I hope to see you again, maybe in the summer where our patio bar will also be open and you could enjoy a refreshing drink overlooking the grounds.
Regards
Christine

Overall we had a great mini break. The Q rooms and staff were excellent. The 'afternoon tea' was actually just drink and piece of cake which was disappointing. We have stayed at Aldwark Manor for the last 2 New Years and had full afternoon tea, sandwiches, cream scones, cakes etc. Also there were no canapés with the pre dinner drink. We were told they had all gone. 2 of our party had very tough meat with the evening meal and it could not be cut. We did send a message to the kitchen. The rest of us had lovely food. The remainder of the meals for our stay were excellent.

Dear 64Christine2014,
Thank you for your review of Stratford Manor Hotel.
All the staff are pleased they made your stay excellent and I am glad you enjoyed your Q room. Chef is aware of your comments regarding the canapés and the afternoon tea and is looking at baking more for next year. He is glad the rest of your meals were excellent.

My partner and I have stayed at the stratford manor hotel many times before, and this time was just as good. Upon arrival we were met with the same friendly people on reception.
Our room was clean and had all the normal things you expect in a 3/4 star hotel.

Buffet breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold foods and I must say some of the best porridge I have ever had. The lounge bar was heightened by the fact that one of the staff Marc remembered us by name and was as ever very polite and friendly.

The party night was very good, I feel the jazz band may have been a mistake as the range of music is not wide enough, but the resident DJ got everyone dancing until 2am.

All in all a brilliant party getaway.

I just wanted to add what a lovely stay we had from Christmas Eve until the day after Boxing Day.( 3 night stay over). As one couple in our party had a standard room and ourselves the Q room, I can honestly say they were both a good size, comfortable and clean for two people. It just depends if you wish the extra's like fridge with a few drinks, robes, sky t.v., and newspaper included. We could not complain about the food and there was even coffee/tea, biscuits/cakes late a.m. and mid afternoon. The entertainment was also very good. But most of all it was thanks to every single member of staff who did their utmost to make sure everyone was having a good time over the Christmas period. For a hotel to run well you need good management team, reception, waiters, kitchen staff, cleaners, maintenance, bar staff, entertainment and lucky for us other guests were friendly and having fun without being annoying.

Room Tip: I think guests should just check with the hotel beforehand to get an idea of the hotel layout.

We stayed at the hotel for one night between Christmas and New Year. I booked a spa break for my Husbands birthday, on arrival the hotel looked great, the guy on reception was very helpful and our room was ready on our arrival at 1.30pm - happy days - we put our luggage in the room - I paid £30.00 extra for a mini bar - to be greatly disappointed was an under statement - this consisted of 2 x bottles of water one still and one sparkling, 1 x bottle of coke, 1 x extra small bottle of milk, and a bottle of wine (enough to be one small glass) - when I originally made my booking I booked in for spa treatments @ 3.30pm to find that we hadn't been booked in at all- they could only fit one in on the day so I begrudgingly gave the time slot to my hubby (as it was for his birthday) - on a brighter note the evening meal was fab, as opposed to the breakfast the following morning which was mayhem - they ran out of food, and didn't clear tables adequately, the hotel was not very busy so I wouldn't like to stay there during a busy period.

We stayed over for the New Years Gala Dinner package, friendly staff, clean rooms, and the food fantastic! The stay beging to end was a pleasurable exprience. Well located to suit all types, history, shops, or countryside.

Room Tip: We stayed in rooms 157 & 159 (ground floor) found them to be close enough to the main hotel area...
