We stayed here for 5 days in September, 2011. Everyone at the hotel was a very hard worker....the place was bustling and the waitstaff and others were all cheerful and quick.
There were three things that put us a little off.

First -- signage. We arrived by coach at the Leisure Center and when we walked to the front of the hotel, there was a large door which was locked. No sign saying to enter through the restaurant. We saw another door with no signs anywhere and didn't recognize it as an entrance. Please put a sign on the front door directing people to the entrance and mark "Reception" over that one.

Second--no bath tub. I guess it's a losing battle anymore to expect more than a shower.

Third, view. I had asked for a room with a view and the room they took us to first had a view of the roof and its a/c units. They eventually got us another room that had a very nice view.

Nice place overall

This was a family weekend in memory of my wife who was a Shakespeare expert and was determined to take all our family to the RSC when the rebuilding was complete. Sadly she died 2 years ago so I decided to arrange the weekend as she had envisaged. But where to stay with a party of 16 people varying in age from 16 to 90.

The Swans Nest was ideal - close to the thaetre and offering economical rates for parties booking 10 rooms. The staff proved to be excellent and friendly, the rooms all en-suite and comfortable, the breakfasts very good (I had chosen to dine at the theatre to make sure we got to our seats in time) and the hotel lrovided a private function room for a final gathering after the Saturda evening performance where we could sit in comfort and reminisce about my wife.

It was a splendid family event and the hotel added much to the enjoyment of all of us.

We stayed here for just one night as we were going to visit the RSC which is just 2 minutes' walk away. Car parking was free but you have to walk right through the hotel to get to the reception, and the coddidors are dark and slightly shabby and dated. Our room was fine, a little small and no bath but clean, well decorated and comfortable. We had dinner in thei "French" bistro in the hotel and again the food was ok but the service was more than a little lacking. The staff were nice and friendly but not well organised and as a consequence our food didnt arrive together, and bits of it didn't arrive at all until I nudged them. The same happened at breakfast and similar experience of the reception staff - friendly but not well organised. So, in summary, nice hotel, good location, need to improve service and do a bit of decorating in the public areas

Room Tip: Don't have a ground floor room, too much noise of people wandering in and out to the car park

Location -excellent
Rooms - not soundproofed - does not look like 4star inside or Outside!
Bed linen good
Bathroom great shower-needs extendable bathroom mirror (if you have eyesight problems)

Dogs in reception area and bar area at night...not a dog hater!! But if you have a phobia you would not like this hotel as dogs on 1st floor and was not expecting this as would have thought any pets would be reserved for ground floor rooms...

Breakfast - Bistro style ...tables too close together - English Breakfast not the best

This Hotel is not value for money and not a Quality Sleep Break

We've just got back from a 2 night stay here. The hotel had a great location and parking in the hotel's car park was free. It's just a 2 minute walk from the RSC theatre in the centre of Stratford so we could walk every where which was a key thing for us. We got a deal through lastminute for £120/night b&b which felt a little pricey given the small size of the room. However it was clean, tidy, safe and a great location. Breakfast was interesting - staff in scruffy jeans, not sure why, and the young lady in charge was quite a madam, spoke to her young staff in a horrible way, in front of the eating guests and on our first morning even had a bit of a go at a member of staff across the restaurant. We really weren't impressed with her! However breakfast was nice, service sometimes a little slow.

This was our first stay at Macdonald Swan's Nest; we're regular visitors to Stratford but have always stayed in one of the Q hotels. The location of The Swan's Nest on the riverside and 5 minutes from the RST has the others beaten, added to that a superb breakfast thrown in and a real ale pub on one side and a bistro on the other, great clean rooms, comfy beds, and friendly staff who are always on hand great...We'll be back
