We stayed for two nights needing a base to visit the town and local attractions such as Warwick Castle etc.

The location is stunning, set on the banks of the river avon, offering a quiet location yet only a five minute walk from the town centre and all the Shaekepere attractions.

The staff on reception were welcoming and helpful. The 'new' french themed restaurant faultless with well priced and well cooked evening meals and a plentiful breakfast.

The hotel was clean, has its own car park and the rooms are nicely equiped and comfortable.

The outside can look like a cross between a pub and a motel, but don't let that put you off, once inside it offeres a relaxing break and use of the swimming pool etc at the sister hotel opposite.

We come regularly for the theatre and have stayed in most of the major hotels in the town. The great appeal of the Swan's Nest is being having a traffic free walk to and from the theatre over the river and through the gardens. The hotel was undergoing re furbishment when we last stayed and both rooms were spacious ,well equipped and comfortable with pristine bathrooms. Breakfast provided as much coffee as I could drink and my vegetarian daughter was delighted to find pancakes smothered in maple syrup on the menu. It was great fun to emerge from the matinee of Julius Caesar in time to step on the chain ferry for a short cut back to the hotel..We intend to return to the Swan's nest next time we visit Stratford.

Having stayed at the hotel many years ago, the recollection was favourable, although also that of being a little tired. Following the refurbishment, the rooms are to a very high standard indeed (we opted for the higher spec) and at a more than competitive price. The restaurant is excellent for both evening meal and breakfast. The bar is also very pleasant, with the offering further complemented by the use of the leisure facilities at the 'sister' hotel just across the road. Finally, the warmth and caring attitude of all the staff throughout enables our giving a strongly favourable review here.

On the plus side - a double room very comfy, clean, spotless, rain shower. Black out curtains & did not hear a peep all night. Rest of hotel is very nice if a bit lacking in character. Right on the river front and Stratford, RSC.

On the minus - firstly the receptionist on arrival was rather curt and unsmiling. I booked a double room but was given a twin room, albeit she did not see what the problem was and asked for evidence that I booked a double. Luckily I had taken by booking.com booking slip with me, so would suggest you do that to prove what type of room you have booked. Also some mix up as she asked for a credit card to which £200 would be debited, the cost of the room being £120 and then any extras would have already been deducted. This was untrue as on check out the card was only used as guarantee and I was told no money had been taken off. Depending on what credit card you use (direct debit or mastercard), you will be charged £2.00 per night - which is not stated by booking.com. I thought the price was a bit steep for breakfast £17.50 - so I ate at at lovely cafe restaurant called OSCARS in Stratford - v. good value for money. Also the mini-bar in the room was totally overpriced.I liked the hotel but thought the reception staff were a bit chilly and could have done with some SMILEY therapy! The restaurant (bistro) was independent of the hotel and looked cold and unwelcoming to me - could have done with more ambience.

We booked a suite as a birthday present and were looking forward to a superior room with all the glamour of a 'suite' What a disappointment.

When we arrived the room was freezing, not what we expected at all. The heating didn't come on until late and even then it was still cold.

The room was very basic and very dusty, including the cups and glasses.

There is no lift so I wouldn't recommend staying if you cannot use the stairs. There is limited disabled parking and it seems it can be used by anyone.

On the plus side the staff were friendly and the hotel is set in a brilliant central location.

Stayed here over the Easter weekend for one night. Hotel is in a great central location.
On arrival, the car park was full and very busy, so we were unable to find a space.
We asked at reception where else we could we park. We were told to use the Alveston Manor, just across the road. There were plenty of spaces here and we prefered this car park to the Swan's nest anyway, as spaces were larger in general and less crammed.
We were greeted by a friendly member of staff at reception and check in was very prompt and professional.
I made my booking through Laura, at reservations who was very helpful and friendly. I'd told her it was my husband's birthday and she left a card and box of chocolates for him in the room, which we thought was a very nice touch.
We booked a standard river view room, which we were given. Yes, you could see the river through the pay and display car park opposite but it wasn't the sort of river view I was expecting to be honest. The room was nice though, on the small side but recently refurbished which was spotlessly clean and had everything you needed for your stay.
The bathroom was small, but again very clean and adequate with a nice large shower.
We had breakfast, which was a nice selection of either continental or fully cooked breakfast. Service was good, with polite staff.
We finished the evening in the Bear Pub at the Hotel which was very pleasant and we managed to get the comfy armchairs!
Overall, I would recommend this Hotel for it's location, service and cleanliness.
