“Nice but”
Reviewed 18 May 2010

Nice & clean, quite basic for a four start Hotel, if you like quite make sure you ask for a room away from the Bistro, music goes on quite late very difficult to sleep with the noise .good breakfast vast selection, excellent location to visit the town.

The Swans Nest Hotel is excellently located for Stratford's many attractions and amenities.
My Husband and I stayed for 3 nights in May and had a fantastic time, weather was excellent and we were able to explore Stratford looking its greatest.
The facilities of the Hotel are very good, with use of the leisure facilities at The Alveston Manor, which is roughly a 1 minute walk over the road from the Swans Nest, but without paying the extra price.
Breakfast was lovely, staff very attentive without hovering over your every move, the "Bear" bar, showing live sky sports if you are interested in that sort of thing, and excellent bar food in sumptuous surroundings, make this hotel definitely worth its 4 stars.
Our room was tastefully decorated, free internet access, tea/coffee making facilities, luxury bathroom, etc, etc, made our stay just perfect.
Would highly recommend to others and will definitely return to stay here again.

We booked this hotel through last minute .com and couldn't have been happier with the choice. The staff were friendly and attentive, the bed was blissfully comfortable and the room with adjoining bathroom was one of the nicest hotels rooms we've ever come across. The location of the hotel on the river was perfect to stroll out from to the Town Centre and we would have no hesitation to recommend the Swan's Nest to anyone, especially if they enjoy lovely food both at the Hotel and within the Town.

The location is great - a short walk across a footbridge to town. The hotel has a good restaurant and a pub on the ground floor. But the best was our room. It was huge, with 2 different sitting areas, and all the amenities you could ask for - good bathroom, robes, free wifi. We went for a "feature room" which had a view of the river. Having said that, the room was right over the pub, and we could hear music playing until about 1am. Didn't really bother us, but I can imagine it might bother some people, so it would be best to ask about the room location on booking.

We stayed at the Swan Nest for 3 nights over the Easter Weekend and was pleased with how close it is to the town centre. The room was spacious, and fitted an extra bed for a child well, still leaving enough room to move about and put suitcases away. Two little gripes, the air con was switch off and when we called the Reception they sent a techician who said the boiler was probably switched off! This was soon sorted though and the room was comfortably warm. There was a huge radiator which also warmed the room adequately. The only other grip it the shower head, there were two, one was in its normal position but reduntant, the newer one was just above the taps so you had to hold it up everytime to give yourself a hose down - literally! (wasn't impressed at all with this as it made no sense and was inconvenient!). Back to the good stuff - we ate in the main resturant, the Bistro the first night and the food and service was lovely. We ate at the Thai Boat House which is literally across the road from the hotel and that was even better. The prices are a little dearer but being Stratford Upon Avon, its to be expected we paid on average £73 for a 2 course meal for 3 with soft drinks! If staying at the Swan Nest try to get a bed and breakfast package as it will work out cheaper. We had breakfast which was lovely, the staff gave an endless supply of tea or coffee and toast and the Full English breakfast was tasty if not a little on the small side as the restaurant is posh! There was also fruits, cereal and pastries as part of the cold buffet which was all included. There are not lifts in this building as it only has two floor, even so we were offered to have our luggage taken up by the reception staff. Overall I was really happy with my stay at Swan's Nest and will definatley be going there again.

The hotel is in the perfect location in Straford, a very short few mins walk to the park, river, cox's yard bars and shops etc. Free parking. Very clean and well presented. Reception, the bar and bistro were all really nice. We asked for a twin room. The room was not big but had the required items. Small modern bathroom with walk in shower with was lovely, much better than most hotel showers! You will not want to get out. There was a laptop safe, hair dryer, iron, press etc The twin beds were pushed together which isn't ideal if you want a twin but you can work with it and move them a little if you wish. The hotels own staff were really polite and offered a good service. The bistro was nice and modern the breakfast was fresh and served to the table with an additional cold buffet. The table was small and they were slow clearing and the bistro staff were not as friendly as the hotel staff. Not rude but not welcoming and warm. They could take note from the hotel. We paid upfront and got a very good value deal, the check out was therefore very quick and easy. We would stay again, well done Swans Nest and thank you for a lovely break.

I stayed here last week for 2nights and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the product. The rooms were nicely decorated & the food in the bar was great. Only thing that lets it down is the lack of reception staff on duty at times. The duty manager checked me in & delivered my bags to my room whilst running around doing lots of other jobs. Why not pay for another member of reception team to complete this 4* experience!
