Staff were always friendly and helpful. Very pleasant room with ample facilities to help make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Breakfast was not served to the standard of evening meals. The hotel is excellently situated to visit all places of interest we wanted to see. After parking the car in the Hotel's car park it was not necessary to use it until the day we regretably had to leave

My partner booked us into this hotel as a treat for my birthday. We were intending to us the hotels restaurant "Le Pierre Bistrot", which we have eaten at before and had an amazing meal, so decided to also use the hotel. We have always stayed in B&B's when we have been to Stratford previously, but we will definately use this hotel in the future.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly throughout our stay.
Our room was nicely sized for the price we paid, with adequate facilities. There was tea, coffee, etc, and also a bottle of complimentary water, which we thought was a very nice touch.
We did make use of the swimming pool, steam room and sauna, which was situated in the sister hotel across the road. We didn't make use of the spa as we did not have enough time, but we will in the future.
The only criticism that we have is that we thought that the breakfast was too expensive, at £17.00. We decided not to eat at the hotel for this and went into town for breakfast.
All in all, we had a lovely stay and in a very well run hotel. We will most certainly return in the near future.

First problem, couldn't find car park. The hotel was located in an area with a lot of pay and display car parks and no clear directions for the hotel car park. After a few false starts we found a spacious car park, but understandably people were paying for their parking having missed the hotel car park. We had been upgraded to a suite which was very spacious but with no view, however the room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Tried to ring room service for fresh milk, but gave up as no-one was answering the phone. Breakfast was over-priced and service not very good as it was very busy and there were few staff. Checkout again was extremely busy with a queue seven deep and one member of staff. The phone was ringing constantly, but not answered. Staff were friendly and helpful, but everything had the potential to be so much better.

I stayed in this hotel several years ago for a theatre trip, but since then I believe it was been refurbished. Then it was a nice looking hotel, although it had definitely seen better days and it wasn't as clean as I would have expected for the price.

I was pleasantly surprised to find on my return that not only has the decor been upgraded, but so have the facilities. The public areas are nicer and the room facilities have been upgraded. The only room available to us was a disabled access room on the ground floor, but this turned out to be to our advantage as we were delighted to discover a very nice wet room in place of the usual small hotel bathroom. Lovely comfy non slip flooring, fantastic power shower and most importantly easy to work! It is not often I have felt so clean and comfortable after a hotel shower.

The tea/coffee and storage facilities have certainly been imporved and we used them gratefully. The beds were clean and reasonably comfortable, and given that our room faced the road we had a decent night's sleep.

The main advantage to this hotel is its proximity to town - we took just five minutes to return after the theatre and that was with a lovely leisurely walk through the park and over the river - a lovely place to be for hotel guests during day time.

The low side of this hotel would be that the restaraunt was expensive so we ate elsewhere.

All in all, this hotel is not cheap but it is comfortable and quite convenient, so worth a try if you are treating yourself.

We arrived late and harried and were greeted warmly. Every effort was made to accommodate us and to meet our needs. The Operations Manager, who was at the front desk when we arrived, even went so far as to phone an off-premises restaurant to postpone our dinner reservation. Such practical support and offers of help were balm to harassed travellers. Our room was well appointed, quiet, and clean, with good lighting. We were impressed by the cleanliness of the facilities and the fact that everything worked -- a rarity in English hotels -- and also by the consideration for travellers displayed in design, facilities, and service. The hotel is family friendly and the breakfast buffet includes plenty of freshly cut fruit. Hot dishes are cooked to order. Gluten free breakfast supplied with no fuss or difficulty. What really sets this hotel apart, though, is the warmth and helpfulness of the front desk staff.

The room was pleasant if a bit small. It was odd there was a double bed, but only one chair and one armchair - even though room service was proferred. It would have been difficult to perch on either the chair or armchair for a meal for two!

It was annoying that the tea, coffee and biscuits weren't topped up the second night, nor the shower gel/shampoo: little things like this make a difference!

We also had discount vouchers for an evening meal and were looking forward to eating in the hotel's bistro. This was not possible and we were asked to eat at the nearby Alveston Hotel which could not take us until 9pm. What a treat that turned out to be, though: excellent service, excellent food. We'll never know what the bistro was like, but we can recommend the Alveston for good service! It was a lovely hotel and a lovely contrast to the Swans Nest.

Strangely, in the MacDonald brochure it implies that the Alveston is a mile from the centre of Stratford whereas the Swans Nest is central. We chose the later so that we could leave the car at the hotel and walk into the town. As it turned out the Alveston is adjacent, so the brochure wording is a tad odd!

Despite these little niggles, we enjoyed our stay, found the staff very pleasant and the breakfasts excellent. We plan to return.

The situation of this hotel is excellent being right by the river and within a few minutes of the town centre. Both the restaurant and pub, for meals and drinks, on the premises were good value and well served by the hotel staff. We had a meal in both and enjoyed them with equal satisfaction although they were very different. The early menu for theatre goers in particular was very good value. A short walk across the footbridge placed you in the centre of the town. Staff were attentive without being obtrusive and, although we were only staying two nights, spoke to us in and around the hotel as if we were regulars. A most enjoyable few days.
