This was a great place for a family to stay over after watching a play-it's only 25 minutes walk from the centre of town, time which went by very quickly! Lovely staff-it was particularly nice to be offered a coffee just as I was about to go out for an early morning walk. The poached egg at breakfast could have been runnier [and bigger!] and two big sausages would have been nice rather than one rather thin one, but the staff were so nice that I think if I'd asked they'd have been happy to help on both counts. And we've never been anywhere where hot toast arrives the moment you sit down! Brilliant.

Room Tip: All the rooms are quiet, peaceful and beautifully clean

My wife and I stayed in one of the Executive rooms. The hotel decor etc is first class. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and the food excellent. We'd definitely stay again.

This is a nice, comfortable, very clean place to stay if in Stratford-upon-Avon to go to the theatre, with a nice breakfast and lovely hosts. I found the standard room to be a bit snug (though this is typical of a European hotel room size), so I would suggest getting a larger room if it matters to you. I would add that you would want to have your own vehicle if staying here. It is not that far from the center of town, but it would be a long way to walk if it were raining or late at night. And this is certainly good value.

Room Tip: It's worth paying for a larger room....

Our only regret is that we only spent one night at the hotel. We went to see a Shakespeare production and the hotel is ideally situated just over a mile out of Stratford. A cab ride for £5 or a awe inspiring 25-30 min walk past some of the most beautiful houses I have ever set eyes on.
The hotel was spotless. We booked a twin bedded exec room, which was large and beautifully furnished. Better than some of the 'so called' top class hotels I have stayed in, in and around the UK & Europe. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and we could leave our car in the carpark until ready to depart, free of charge.
Highly, highly recommended and will definitely stay there again.

We were impressed with the presentation and overall cleanliness, both in the room and reception area. However, there were a couple of problems that, for us, would mean we wouldn't return and would be reluctant to advise anyone to stay.

The mattress on the bed and the base were very uncomfortable. We like a firm mattress but the sensation when lying in the bed was not of firmness but a thin mattress on a solid base with no springs to give support. After a few hours we were so uncomfortable that we got up before 7 just to ease the discomfort of lying on the mattress.

The green light, which I believe is provided for fire reasons, was very bright and further hampered our ability to sleep. I am not certain if anything can be changed about the light but as it is nearly directly over the bed it was disruptive to our sleep.

The UHT milk provided for the tea and coffee curdled when poured into the tea, it was still in date but curdled very unpleasantly.

Finally, the breakfast had unusual and unpleasant seasoning in eggs and mushrooms, which after a poor night's sleep was a further disappointment.

The positives for this hotel are a great location, nice facilities and extremely helpful staff but the bed, light, milk and breakfast were disappointing, and the bed so poor we wouldn't return.

Please find below our response forwarded with regards to the original email received prior to the posting of your review on trip advisor. We apologise we could not offer goodwill gesture on this occasion.

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to your email prior to posting your review on trip advisor, we would agree that comments posted on trip advisor should be frank and honest covering the good also bad experiences thus helping potential guests to gain a fair overview, enabling an informed decision to be made prior to booking.
All comments left for our hotel are genuine honest reviews and we do not promote underhanded tactics often deployed by other hotels as we believe long term this bad for both the hotels and the customers and the integrity of trip advisor.

The same as everybody else, we always enjoy the good comments, however in response to the negative comments raised we would respond as follows.

The beds chosen for the hotel are a medium hard bed from the midrange contract selection, manufactured by High grove Beds who are a reputable supplier to the hospitality industry. Whilst some people may prefer a hard bed others preference would be a soft bed so by choosing medium hard therefore we hope a fair compromise is reached for the majority of bookings, however we apologise the bed was not to your liking on this occasion.

We would agree the green exit light is quite obtrusive, as you quite rightly pointed out this light is a statutory safety requirement. In the past a few other customers have tucked towels over the light as a temporary measure. We will be investigating this problem further to clarify if we can adhere a sticker of some description to help tone down the intensity of these lights in all bedrooms.

A bit of a mystery with the milk, staff have also confirmed the uht milk offered was in date but had curdled in the tea, we have had no further problems with this batch of uht milk and have tried the milk in both tea and coffee, we will monitor this carefully and contact the supplier/manufacturer should this reoccur in the future. I am pleased fresh milk was offered as an alternative.

We have had no further negative comments with regarding the seasoning to the breakfast components, in fact we usually receive positive feedback on the breakfasts in general, this said we will as always maintain monitoring of the breakfasts and if we receive persistent negatives, review the seasoning situation.

To conclude we are genuinely disappointed you won’t be returning due to the above factors, everybody works hard at the Limes to offer guests an enjoyable and comfortable stay whilst maintaining value for money. However we greatly appreciate your time taken to leave feedback to learn from in both good and bad points and hope our responses cover your concerns satisfactorily.
If we can be of assistance in the future please be assured of our best intentions.

We spent New Years Eve with friends at the Stratford Limes and throughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was of a good size, well presented and lovely and clean with a seating area which came in handy when our friends came back to our room when we returned after mid night.

The breakfast was very tasty and the service was of a high standard. We would definately recommend this hotel to anyone planning to stay in Stratford.
