“Good but not great.”
Reviewed 10 September 2012

Positives -
Nice location on outskirts of town. A pleasant 30min stroll takes you to the centre.
Easy, free parking at rear of hotel.
Whole hotel appeared clean and tidy.
Breakfast was fresh and nicely presented.
Negatives -
Paper thin walls. Could hear every flush of the toilet in adjoining room, and a baby wailing. On the other side, breakfast being prepared, i.e whooshing of the coffee machine every few minutes and the clatter of cutlery and crockery.
Although the room was fresh and airy, and nicely decorated, there were some hideous mirrors on the wall that belonged in the 70's, with heavy guilt frames. They were totally at odds with the rest of the room.
Would have liked a wider variety of breakfast dishes and larger portions.
Service at breakfast was very patchy. Sometimes too many staff, other times, no one in sight. Resulted in no toast one morning until we'd finished our breakfast, and on another occasion being asked if we wanted tea three times within a couple of minutes.
For £100 a night, as near as damn it, would have expected to see a newspaper, if not in the room, then certainly in the lounge.
On one morning the lounge area was completely taken over by what appeared to be local ladies having a coffee morning. It seemed very inconsiderate towards paying guests to effectively deny them access to that area after breakfast.

Overall a reasonable place to stay, but not perfection as some reviewers intimate. Although has over a dozen rooms, it feels more like a B&B than a hotel.

Room Tip: Keep away from room 7. Right next to reception/breakfast room and car park. Can be noisy.

Stayed for 2 nights in an executive room, quiet and peaceful. Breakfast very good. If I was to quibble I would suggest a little more fruit variety. Proprieters, who clearly do a lot of the frontline work themselves, were unobtrusive but very helpful when needed. For a small family run hotel this could not be faulted. Parking facilities good, but note it is about a mile outside of the town so own transport needed for this hotel, and parking in the town, though easy, is expensive. Would certainly return if visiting Stratford again.

Room Tip: Exec room (14) was at the back and off the road & very peaceful. Book through hotel website &...

This is a delightful small hotel on the edge of Stratford. Excellent friendly service, individual attention & terrific breakfast especially cooked for you & not left waiting in a mini--cauldron for an hour Great value.

We stopped at The Limes for a couple of nights on our way to see family in Manchester and visit the theatre. The hotel is a little way out of Stratford, but does make this clear on its website. It took us about half an hour to walk into town. The room was very comfortable - we had a free upgrade - and all clean and tidy, as you would expect. Breakfast was well prepared. I had bacon and egg, my wife had croissants and fruit juice. Staff were unfailingly courteous and helpful. We would definitely stay there again when visiting the theatre

This hotel is not bad, but from what I experienced it surely cannot be the best in Stratford? The room was large and comfortable but the soundproofing was woeful with toilet flushing from at least two other room clearly audible, along with footsteps and door slams. Breakfast was good, but the service was patchy.

Room Tip: Ask for an upstairs room if you want undisturbed sleep

Just returned from the Stratford Limes Hotel. On arrival had a wonderful warm welcome, nothing was too much trouble. We were celebrating a special occasion and was immediately upgraded. The hotel is modern and spotlessly clean.
All the small finishing touches added to the wonderful stay.
Delicious breakfast, quality food.
If the weather wasn't so bad we would have booked an extra night.
After looking at some of the small hotels around Stratford we definitely had booked the best. We will return, pleasing to know they have sister hotel opposite Warwick Castle, may try that one next
Ideal to travel into Stratford, half hour walk, bus stop right outside the hotel, £3.50 return or taxi £4.50
A real gem of a hotel! perfect

My husband and I stayed here for our wedding anniversary on Saturday night as we wanted to go to the RSC. The chap who welcomed us at the door was so friendly and nice and he even upgraded us which was so great. The room was brand new, very tastefully furnished with lovely Arran Aromatics goodies in the bathroom. We walked into Stratford - along what is clearly millionaires row - great for house spotting! - which was a very pleasant walk and only took 20 minutes or so. Breakfast was very nice - as we're both vegetarian it was a really nice surprise to have veggie sausages as an alternative - why can't all hotels do this?? A great little hotel with excellent service. Will definitely stay again when i return.
